“Why would you want to stay here?”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 3, 2013

I was attending a conference at the Congress Centre, 5 minutes walk away, but the convenience still doesn't make up for the service and location of this hotel. It's a considerable way outside the centre of Lisbon, and riverside restaurants opposite can only be accessed by walking a good 10 minutes down the road to a bridge, then all the way back again, because there is nowhere else to cross the 6 lanes of traffic and the train lines that run alongside the river. The huge 25th April Bridge with its heavy traffic and more train tracks looms over the top, add that this is also directly under the flight path. The area round the hotel is quite rundown, and not great for walking out in the evening.
Service was incredibly slow, bar staff rude, internet service slow, no iron in room - not even possible to borrow one, but the final straw was the safe, which has a hole where a lock would be- you have to pay to hire the locking mechanism.
At least the room was clean and the bed relatively comfortable but there surely have to be better places to stay in Lisbon

Room Tip: Rooms on the side away from the bridge, and away from the river are marginally quieter if you can ig...

I really enjoyed the service and the breakfast, a good 3* for the rest. Very clean. It's close to a nice night-Life area, but far from the center. I had a car, but I didn't see any metro station close by.

What isn't advertised is the fact the hotel is right next to the Ponte 25 de Abril with car lanes and train tracks. On ground level is another train track and it's in the flight path to the airport. In our room with the window opened a bit I measured 103dB. The window was open because the airco had two settings, polar storm or off!

I spent two nights here while attending a meeting at the university. The location is good, right on the river with great views of the 25th April Bridge and within walking distance along the river bank to the Tower of Belem and the Monastery of Jeronimo. There are costumes from operas in the lobby and a decidedly opera theme to the restaurant. The breakfasts are adequate but not special. Wifi is free in the lobby but not in the rooms. I would have rated this as excellent but for two things: first I paid for wifi in my room but could only connect in the bathroom; second the shower knob (to change from bath to shower) was too stiff and I could not manage it. Other than that, I liked this hotel and would be happy to stay again.

Room Tip: I had a great view of the bridge and the river and was not disturbed by noise at all

Nice and clean rooms. Close to the river but far from the center. Very close to Belem and Jeronimos.
Quick tram to the center.
Good breakfast.
A little noisy from the train in the bridge.
Very close to the Tejo river with very nice views and a very nice place to walk.

Room Tip: Lower rooms are less noisy.

Stayed here for 4 nights with friends. The hotel itself is clean, room was fairly sized and tidied every day, they have changed the towels etc. Breakfast choice extensive. The bar has a good choice of drinks but seemed like they water down everything, at least all depended on the bartender. Some drinks were strong, some had barely any alcohol.
The hotel is conveniently located for the congress centre, but it takes approximately 20 minutes to get into the city. You can enjoy travelling with tram number 15, which is great. There is also the tram museum just around he corner.
If you like walking, take a 20 minute stroll to the famous patisserie in Belem and to the other sights in the district. There is a very good Italian restaurant nearby as well.
The hotel has a fitness area and swimming pool, but you have to pay 11 euros to use it just as you have pay for the wifi. I believe these services should be included in the room rate. Taking the location and services into account the price you pay for your stay here is a bit high. Most probably you can get better value hotels nearer to the city centre.

Hotel is very very good - I stayed in a mini suite, with lots of space, nice bathroom, fantastic beds. I had amazing view over the Tejo river, overwelming wakeup. The noise of train and cars on the bridge did not affect me, but I believe to some people could cause some problems...
Breakfast could be better - I did not like the eggs, and there ws too much confusion in the room, with people waiting a long time to get a table. Definitively a point of improvement.
Moreover, swimming pool is extremely expensive - 8EUR per children is not acceptable.
Overall evaluation: could be 5* if not the breakfast and prices for extras.
Special wording on the staff: very nice, always available: 5* to the staff.
