You don't know what to expect when you approach Casa Balthazar, the streets are getting so narrow that you can hardly drive through, packed with people and full of noise...... But as soon as you have entered the private courtyard there is peace and quiet! Such a lovely, different place! We stayed in the panorama room and loved it, fantastic views of the castle and the city.
Breakfast in the room was very fresh and delicious. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Very good starting point to explore Lisbon, close to funicular and lift.

Room Tip: Rooms on the higher floors have nice views, but remember, there's no lift!

First time in Lisbon and here for Rotary International Conf. My wife and I stayed in the Terrace Room that had a great view of the city. The staff was very helpful and gave us directions on how to get around the Metro and places to eat. For breakfast they delivered a tray of fresh orange juice, fruit, assorted rolls, cheese and meat. The room came with a well furnished kitchenette and UC fridge.
Highly recommend Casa Balthazar for your stay.

Room Tip: Only 9 rooms so don't see how you can go wrong. Terrace Room is where we stayed- great!

My husband and I spent 5 nights here during the Rotary International Convention, which was held in Lisbon this year. We absolutely loved it. Rita and her staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Walking in through the courtyard door, was like walking into an oasis of serenity. We couldn't believe this little gem was mere steps from the bustling activity of "old city" Lisbon. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and so welcoming. I was personally in love with the fabulous mix of modern amenities and the vintage beauty of family-owned antiques. The inn, overall, was simply lovely. Breakfast was wonderful every morning, and the coffee, outstanding! If we ever travel back to Lisbon, we will be staying at Casa Balthazar. No question!

High class B&B. Very nice ambiance and personal approach. Every room is unique; mine was very spacious.breakfast homemade and served in your room. Nespresso machine in kitchenette(bravo!)
Little swimmingpool in garden allows you also to in. In spite of entrance via the very narrow alley, there is private parking. Service is excellent. They arrange everything for you if you ask them to.(Car rantal, taxi etc) i will be back!

In june 2013 I spent 8 nights here with my wife and she totally shared my opinion, "it is such a lovely place to return to, just to open the door to the flat." The flat ('Lisbon Duque') was spacious and with nice furniture. So was the bathroom; the bed room a little smaller. The atmosphere of the hotel, the thoroughness of the solutions, the breakfast, the best orange juice ever, etc. etc. Wonderful complement to a wonderful city. Memorable. The hotel area, the Bairro Alto is lovely and Largo do Carmo is only seconds away. Hard to be bettered anywhere.

Room Tip: There are only 9 rooms/appartents; choose an apartment.

I stayed in Casa Balthazar with my bf for 1 week and it was pretty spectacular! I loved each and every part of it. Casa Balthazar really is in the centre of Lisbon, and the most beautiful para of it too! It has great access to any part of Lisbon as it has the underground at walking distance. Plus the receptionist were really sweet and helped us plan our week. The beds were also really, really good and my bathroom was huuuuge! I loved it and cant wait to get back :))

Room Tip: The Rossio room, which is where I stayed is so special that I was only able to book through the hote...

We adored this place. The panoramic terrace gave us a perfect retreat from sightseeing days in gorgeous Lisbon - and a wonderful breakfast spot. The comfort and space was welcome and the breakfasts were spectacular. It's superbly central, just 2 minutes walk from the lovely Largo do Carmo and just 5 minutes from the stunning church of Sao Roque. The staff were sweet and we felt well cared-for throughout. And oh! The views.......

Room Tip: The panoramic terrace couldn't be better. Having our own terrace to retreat to made for restful...
