“Great food, slow service”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

When you go to a restaurant where you know it won't be cheap you expect a great service, right? Umai has a great food but a really slooooooow service. We waited for more than 20 minutes to have our first drink. There were clients that arrived after we did and they get their food first. So bad organization. They apologized but I mean... you pay a lot for the food!!!

“Nice well located japanese restaurant in Lisbpn”
Reviewed June 4, 2013

If you feel like eating japanese in Lisbon this is the place to go. Excellent food and service. Ambient very simple and discrete, as the restaurant from outside (you may miss it if not looking carefully). Definitively worth a metal or two...

“Great experience!!”
Reviewed May 24, 2013

Umai was recommended by a friend and it was awesome! On thursdays (the day we went) they have a special menu called Dia do Mercado (Market day). It is a tasting menu were you can try up to 30 pieces of sushi and other delicacies. At the end you can repeat any pieces you want...if you still have enough space in your stomach!! If you don't want to eat the tasting special menu, you can always chose from the regular menu.
Great service, kind and attentive.
I recommend to everyone that likes sushi!!

“Best is impossible”
Reviewed April 28, 2013

well located between Bairro Alto and chiado, umai surprised me and continues to amaze me with each new visit.the best that opened in Lisbon in the last five years, the umai enchants us with its flavors from starters to dessert.from the cornucopias of king crab, fresh cod, through the duck and scallops with curry foam, any option is really an explosion of flavors.
the well-known chief Paulo Morais, always available for any advice could make umai, a pan asiatica kitchen not only in Lisbon but in All europe.undoubtedly the best experience in Lisbon with a fair price.

“An explosion of flavours”
Reviewed April 25, 2013

Being on vacation in lisbon for the first time and not knowing the city well enought to choose our own dinner spots we went to dinner at an oriental restaurant in Bairro Alto called Umai. Since it was said that one of the best chefs in Portugal owned the place, expectations were high. Great location for starters, a very calm and quiet environment and the waiters were as friendly and cordious as we can expect. We ordered the menus reccomended by the waiter and they were PERFECT. Little portions but everything with such flavours, such aromas, the presentation makes you want to take a picture before you eat it. My first stop when i'll return to Lisbon.
