VIP Executive Zurique Hotel is situated next to station Entrecampos. On the map there was only Campo Pequeno, so we had no idea how noisy it was going to be. Together with the airport proximity the noise level is too high, that’s the main fault. Though we have to admit, it’s convenient enough to have a station nearby to travel to Sintra, Mafra or Cristo Rei. As for the room, swimming pool, lobby, they are average. Service is not bad, both at the reception and the bar.

We paid with our credit card and afterwards, we discovered that someone had stolen our credit card details and committed fraud by purchasing goods online. It is such a pity because this was actually an awesome place.

We are budget driven, so in the heat of August for our 2-night mini-break we wanted the best value hotel with air conditioning and free wi-fi we could find. This was it, and the pool was a welcome bonus. There is no free parking nearby so if arriving by car you will have to budget either an extra 9 euros a day for private parking or 80 cents an hour during the day for the pay-and-display car park in front (it is free 7pm - 9am). Otherwise, main line and metro stations are alongside. Our double room on the 3rd floor was fine at first glance; spacious, loads of storage, TV, comfy bed with extra pillows on demand, large desk and a small fridge (most welcome as we could prepare our own breakfast, snacks and drinks in our room). The furniture and bathroom fittings were dated, as we expected for the price we paid, but looked clean. However, the bathroom did not smell fresh and we would gladly have swapped the complimentary bottled water and glass bottled shampoos for a smell of bleach and a paper seal on the loo seat. The small pool was predictably overcrowded in the afternoons and all the sun loungers occupied. We found a mid-morning swim the best option; the water was cooler and clearer then too. We are already planning our next visit to this hotel and next time if we are unhappy with any aspect of our room we will tell Reception, as they seemed most obliging.

I cannot say enough positive comments about this hotel! I cannot wait to go back!

Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly staff who made us feel very welcome and although we tried to speak some very broken Portuguese, they spoke to us in perfect English.

Our room was lovely. Very spacious with a large wardrobe, safe, air conditioning and a clean and lovely bathroom. The only tiny issue is that there is what appears to be a water-resistant sheet on the bed which can be quite noisy but if you leave the other layers on above this, it is fine.

The pool area was peaceful and although there were not many loungers, it is a brilliant facility on offer. On many occasions, there were only ourselves around the pool.

Breakfast at the hotel was fantastic with something on offer for everyone from eggs and bacon, to fruit, cereal and cakes and drinks including tea, coffee and juice. It is buffet style so you are able to have as much or as little as you want. Again, the staff in the breakfast room were fantastic. We did not eat at any other times in the restaurant but I would imagine the quality to be just as good.

The location of the hotel is also great. One short walk takes you to the Campo Pequeno area where there are bus stops to all areas and a metro station. There is also a bus stop for the Lisbon City Tour busses here.

Also in this area is the Rodizio Grill Restaurant. We chose the buffet option (on two nights!) ate until we were ready to burst and had a number of alcoholic and none alcoholic drinks…and all for under 35 Euro’s for two of us!

The only advice I would give is to try and find a local supermarket at the start of your stay. The one mentioned in some posts in Campo Pequeno shopping area (underneath the Bull Ring) is now closed and other local ones within about a 15 minute walk seem to close quite early.

All in all, I had a fantastic 8 night stay in this hotel without a single complaint and will happily be returning again next year. Thanks for everything!

Room Tip: If you give the reception desk your requirements at check in, they will do everything they can to ac...

I found the hotel easy enough with the GPS. The 2 men on the reception desk were friendly and spoke English and Spanish. The room was comfortable but worn, our toilet seat and that of my brother inlaw was made of chipboard with the white veneer peeling off. We slept well and the aircon worked well and was quiet. We were on the 8th floor and found that only 2 small lifts were not enough at busy times, we had to wait quite a while. The restaurant is a buffet week days but at the weekend the was no meñu del dia and the carta was overpriced for what we had and we had to wait a long time. We found a pizza restaurant near the hotel on the righthand slip road.
Just across from the hotel there is a small private hospital with a taxi rank so getting a taxi was no problem, 7 euros and a white knuckle ride takes you to the main square. There is also a train station close by. Parking week days at the hotel is one euro an hour and more expensive in the carpark outside but there is always room.
