The view from the top, all the way down the Avenida da Liberdade to the river is fantastic. It's a nice place for a stroll while you wait for your hop on/off, or combine it with the Marques de Pombal monument and kill two birds with one stone on your sightseeing list

This was our first experience of Lisbon after dropping our bags at the hotel. The views are stunning and the views down Avenida de Liberdade are amazing. However, I felt that the park was a bit jaded and could do with some TLC. The dilapidated Pavilion is a bit of an eyesore and doesn’t help the overall look and feel of the park.

We did enjoy ourselves here though and took some memorable pictures.

This park is nice, but its great asset is the view down on avenida da liberdade all the way to the river. I would say that it is not high on the priority list if you have little time in lisbon, but check it out if you have gone to the other more important sites.

This park is very nice for a stroll, day or evening. The view from "the top" down the Avenida Liberdade towards the Rio Tejo is superb. There are paces along the path in the park to take a rest. It's a very nice walk on a sunny day in Summer and I also liked it in Winter.

We visited in October.

After a pleasant walk along the mile long Avenieda de Liberdade from the centre of Lisbon we arrived at the impressive Marques de Pombal statue at the entrance to the park. Other visitors preferred to use the hop on/hop off bus service, to save their legs.

The park is on a gentle slope and a leisurely stroll up to the top is rewarded with impressive views of the city and river Tagus, although at the time of visiting, the hedges hadn’t been trimmed and spoilt the effect slightly.

At the top of the (quiet) park is an intriguing fountain/monument (to the 25th April revolution).

Unfortunately the once impressive Pavilion Carlos Lopez has become derelict, although the azulejo blue tile panels are still there and are a reminder of how grand it once was. Near the pavilion is a café, next to a duck pond, with a pretty fountain.
