After wandering around in Bairro Alto, drinking one of the various teas and enjoying a piece of delicious cake in Cultura do cha is a very good way to reload your batteries. The café is welcoming you with a cozy atmosphere and comfortable couches and arm chairs, but normal chairs and tables as well. It's also possible to work there with free wi fi. Very good tostas for a very fair price are also to recomend!

What a great find! While wandering the streets of Bairro Alto , an old bicycle caught my curiosity. Walking further up the road with the most beautiful bougainvilla draped across the homes and walls, I saw this tiny tea shoppe. It beckoned me to come in and I became a quick regular customer ! Upon entering, you feel like you are walking into someones home for tea ! Comfy chairs are set around tables with huge cannisters of tea surrounding you and your senses. In the front of the shop is an inviting display of homemade cakes, scones and toasts sandwiches. We were greeted by the owner Helena who is a delightful person and welcomes you with open arms and warmth to sit and have a cuppa. Should you order scones, the jam is housed in a little cupcake that looks tempting enough to eat ! Tasty and fresh ! For all you chocoholics, the chocolate cake is divine and like velvet to the palate ! I brought along my mom on a second and subsequent visits as we just fell in love with this shop/livingroom. Homey, with no rush and a great environment to take in with your tea and delicious snacks. After a full day of exploring , a highly recommended place to stop and kick back.
