We ate at the bistro and the grill, both are excellent value for money, good selection and very fresh and plentiful. Staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Will definitely be back.

We stumbled upon this little gem at lunchtime and had the daily specials followed by yummy homestyle desserts. Very crowded with locals and so busy they were turning people away. Very reasonable prices.

Moma really is a gem hidden in plain sight. "Why?", you ask. Because with its location smack dab in the middle of Baixa, it's surrounded by many other restaurants that are a bit on the touristy side. (Disclaimer time: I've found that it really is difficult to get a bad meal in Lisbon, so when I label a resto in Lisbon as "touristy", it's not meant to be disparaging. It's simply a way to delineate the really good from the superb.) While Moma definitely caters to tourists (and does it well), it does not sacrifice the quality of their food or service in order to keep up with the mad crowds. To the contrary, Moma has fresh, tasty, well thought out and well-cooked dishes with fantastic service.

I ate lunch here with some family and friends in September of 2013. We were lured to this restaurant above others nearby due to the rather unique menu. We were also intrigued by the fact that the menu was somewhat limited, which we hoped indicated that they did a few things superbly (as opposed to some of the restos we had tried nearby which had huge menus that produced food the was good, but not that memorable…). We were not disappointed! Everything that we tried, from the cod fritters, to the pasta, to the shrimp, to the sangria was well-executed and so tasty! Also worth trying: their desserts, which are baked by the owners themselves.

Service was delivered by a friendly and attentive husband-and-wife team and their charming teen-aged son. And in spite of the hustle and bustle around us (we were seated in the outdoor area, which is another way of saying that we were out in the middle of the pedestrian-only street, as is customary in this beautiful part of town), we had a relaxed and leisurely meal nonetheless. Ah, bliss!

If you decide on visiting, please keep in mind that being a small operation, their hours are limited, and so is their inventory. When we were there, towards the end of service, some of their dishes were already unavailable as supplies had been exhausted. I saw this as a good thing though: it indicates that the food is fresh and locally sourced, and that quality is paramount.

I shall return.

In the middle of lisbon.
We were lucky to stumble across this small restaurant in the middle of the more touristy places to eat. Good food, friendly staff. Pasta was al dente, simple and nice flavours. We came back 3 times for lunch... Open from 12 to 5 p.m.
