We wanted to try out some African food while in Lisbon and just googled our neighbourhood and "African food". One of the first suggestions was Estrela Morena and as it turned out to be just 200 metres away, we gave it a go.
Turned out to be a pleasant surprise as the service, the food and the price were all very good. We tried three different dishes that all turned out to be delicious and wholesome, just as the desserts were nice. The owners are from Cape Verde and take great pride in their heritage.
The cuisine may not be particularly advanced or complicated, but the restaurant focuses on a few good dishes and make them well. The servicemindedness and kindness of the owners added to the experience and we recommend the place to anybody who wants to try out good African food in an authentic setting.
Pricewise the restaurant is quite cheap with beer costing a mere 1.20 EUR and the most expensive bottle of wine less than 10 EUR, and no main course more than 11 EUR.
