This monument has a lift to take you to the top of the monument for a 4euros and it`s worth it, because the scenery it`s spectacular ans you can see below rosa dos ventos.

“Very moving”

Right on the spot. Similar to seeing where Columbus left Barcelona! The monument resembles the prow of a ship with sails billowing above. Each brave pathfinder stands on the shoulders of those who preceded him.

“An Awesome reminder of what it meant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

The Large Monument at the waters edge commemorates those the went to sea for decades and centuries. Great area for Photo opportunities also.Nice area just a little bit away from the Tower too.

“What a Tribute to the Discoverers”

This is a very impressive monument. If you're in the area, you should stop and walk around it. It's nice to see the water from here.

“Great place for an evening walk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2013

This monument in itself is a place where you just want to take several pictures and you are done. However, as this monument is only a 10 minute walk to the Tower of Belem it is a great place to go for a evening walk right by the river and see two things at once ;)
