“Beautiful church”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 16, 2012

It looks "just" like another church from the outside, but this is one of the most beautiful and unusual churches in Lisboa. You got to enter and see for yourself.

“Pretty and interesting church”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 30, 2012 via mobile

I'm not really into churches and often get dragged around them with my family. This one however I enjoyed. Lots of gold. Lots of cherubs. Interesting painted ceiling. Saw a violinist and pianist in the museum next door for a small fee. Was worth it.

Incredible lecture offered free, a touchstone into the history of Portugal and its world 16th century domination.

“Sao Roque is like the Vatican on a diet!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2012

The Igreja de Sao Roque is a great example of the wealth and pageantry of the Catholic church. We took the free tour of the church and museum which lasts about an hour and our guide was very insightful. The church contains some of the most costly chapels in Europe all clad in gold from Brazil and the museum houses gifts to the church from all of the former Portuguese colonies. If you have an hour I would recommend the free tour and if not a quick walk through would prove worth your time.
