Owner description: LISBON ZOO – GO AROUND THE WORLD IN JUST ONE DAY At Lisbon Zoo, we invite you to travel around the world without leaving Lisbon. Find the Sumatran Tigers in the dense vegetation of the Rainforest, observe lions, giraffes and elephants behaviour at the dry African Savannah and dazzle with the majestic flight of the colourful birds of South America. Our mission is to develop and promote a zoological and botanical park, as a centre of conservation, reproduction and reintroduction of endangered species, through scientific investigation and environmental enrichment programs. Along with education is a strong entertainment component that will ensure a great family time, always with the conviction that when visiting Lisbon Zoo you’re contributing to this great project of conservations of endangered species and their habitats.

“Excellent value for money”
Reviewed October 28, 2013

This was a fantastic day out. We arrived at 10h00 when it opened and left at 17h00 when the last show finished. Lots of walking, with a train ride and a cable car ride to rest our weary feet. The dolphin and seal show was excellent, the staff really showing that they loved what they did. Also the bird display, once again the passion showing in the staff, who were very dedicated and knowledgeable. The animals all had nice large enclosures and it was great to get to see the two 8 month old brown bear cubs and the white lion cub too.
This is an excellent day out for all ages and the prices are good, as are the prices for the cafes within the zoo.

“Over expectations”
Reviewed October 27, 2013

Lisbon zoo is probably one of the best. It had a huge improvement over last years, and it worth a visit when staying in Lisboa. Located at 15/20 min from any location in Lisboa (by subway), you should be there before 11 a.m. to see the dolphins show. Afterwards, a lot to see and enjoy.

“a whole day worth of fun”
Reviewed October 22, 2013

had a blast returning to the zoo 20 years after being there as a small kid. Nowadays it seems it is focused on providing the best possible conditions for the animals but allowing guest to view them and get as close as possible to the main atractions.
Highlights are the programmed events (dolphin show, seagull feeding, live flying show, and others) and the aerial lift running through most of the park allowing a whole different perspective of the park.
Tip: you can leave the zoo and return, meaning you can have lunch outside having more economical choice rather than going to Macdonalds.

“Bring your insect repellant!”
Reviewed October 21, 2013

We visited the zoo on a Monday in mid October. We arrived at 10 am which was opening time. Only a handful of people were waiting to get in. The admission was 18 euros each. There was a lot of machinery, noise, and staff zooming around in golf carts. The cages seemed untidy and several of the animals had very large water holes but very little water in the holes. The penguins didn't even have a place to swim and their water hole was completely dry. The animals that eat hay seemed to be well fed but the meat eating animals seemed very thin. Also, there was a strong urine odor throughout the zoo but especially at the white tiger cage. We rated the over all experience a poor due to the excessive insects swarming around your head as you walk through the zoo. We were bitten several times by these flying insects. We have been to zoos all over Europe and have never encountered an insect problem like this. Over all this was a sad zoo.

“Amazing zoo”
Reviewed October 17, 2013

Lisbon zoo is very accessible from Lisbon using subway. It's not the biggest in the world but you can see many nice animals like white tigers, bears, cheetahs, monkeys and many more. There are many attractions as well like a cable-way over the zoo. It's great to spend 3-4 hours there. The architecture is awesome too.
