a little expensive for half a day but it was enjoyable. I liked the monkeys and the cable car. there were few crowds on this weekday. the shows were in Portuguese so we mostly looked at the animals. also took the train ride which costs an extra Euro for some reason though it's not as good as the tram. it's easy to get here on the metro.

I have to admit, I love Zoos in general and this one is another great one to add to the list. The animal species on display are varied and all the habitats are spacious and well designed. There is a white tiger, a big gorilla, elephants, zebras, some crazy parrots and lots of turtles :-). The park itself and walking around in the zoo is a lovely way to spend time, even without looking at the animals and you will find yourself enjoying the scenery many times during the day, sitting down on a park bench eating ice cream or drinking a cappucino. There is an amazing cable car ride that takes up to 2 people in a carriage all over the zoo, offering great views (we floated right across a herd of lions sleeping in the sun, a magical moment) and it is quite an experience to drive through the treetops with a friend of your loved one. The dolphin show was impressive, although I am not really keen on animal training for the purpose of circus shows, so you might want to miss that one,

This is an excellent zoo. We've been to zoos all over the world and this one rates right up there with the best. It was a very hot day, but there is plenty of shade so it was comfortable. Do be sure to get a map as you go in so you don't miss anything including the pet cemetery, which is just past the bears. There are several things included in your entrace fee (we got the senior discount) one is the sea lion/seal show which lasts an hour and the other is the overhead tram. Prices for food are also reasonable. The only problem we had was trying to find the exit at the end of the day. We spent about five hours there so you can tell there was lots to see and do.

Really enjoyed this trip especially the aerial cable car, although you should be aware that it involves standing up for the whole journey. Animals were being well cared for in the hot conditions and dolphin show excellent with ample seating. Eateries just outside zoo itself offer reasonable food and drink at fairly cheap prices. Limited catering in zoo confines however.

The dolphin and sea lion show was a highlight, so was the cable car ride amongst the trees! The zoo is well kept with all sorts of animals you expect to find including a reptile area. The flora is also very nice!
Maybe on the downside is the fact that its on the hillside and some parts are quite steep specially with tired young children, which reminds me that a cloudy day is best for visiting as Lisbon gets very hot
