Great location and the hotel is perfectly suited for those who want a clean room, internet access and a central location to see Lisbon. Only complaint is that the front desk recommended a horrible restaurant nearby. Normally I would not complain, but they handed me a business card for the restaurant with the hotel's stamp on it, suggesting they get some form of kickback from quests who eat there. Free internet access works well, either through a cable hookup in the room or the wifi throughout the hotel.

This hotel is nice and clean and the staff are friendly. All the rooms are decorated in their own unique style and have an ensuite/bath with towels provided. Breakfast included a range of continental style & cooked food as well as usual pastries and fruit. There was even tea!
The hotel has great location, with a metro stop just outside the hotel. If you fancy a longer stroll down the treelined avenue to mainline station it is only 10 minutes away. The tourist office next to the mainline station is also a good way and often cheaper to book tours. We did a day's tour to fatima, batalha, alcobaca, obidos & nazare for 60 euros, with cool tour lx & got picked up/dropped off outside our hotel. Our guide Pedro was a good laugh!
Beside doing all the normal sightseeing we took the train to Sintra for 1 day and toured the Pena Palace and the Moorish Castle. Your ticket is valid 2 days and Moorish Castle is a steep climb, so we came back and Pena the following day.
L' Olive Restaurant is round the corner from the hotel and is great for eatling out late as the Portuguese do. Ambience is brilliant and the food is very nicely presented and tastes great.
If you like tapas, then Chappitos (meaning circus tent) is a good restaurant on the way up to Castelo de Sao Jorge (St Georges Castle). It has great views of Lisbon but book in advance to get a place as we went on Saturday night and just got in.
Basically overall the hotel has all the facilities of a modern hotel & it does what it says on the tin to ensure a comfortable & relaxing stay.

Large rooms, outstanding helpful staff, great breakfast, great location, metro stop is outside the hotel. Most people speak some English which really is much different than in Spain. The people are also more friendly here. Beside doing all the normal sightseeing we took a day trip to Sintra and toured the Pena Palace and the Moorish Castle. We also took in Cristo Rei, the christ statue overlooking Lisbon. You'll enjoy Lisbon, a very friendly city.

This is a four star hotel situated one block south of Marques de Pombal, the site of a public circle in Lisbon and metro station of the same name. I was a bit suspicious of “star creep” but this proved not to be the case; I was very satisfied by my stay at this hotel.

It is immaculate in terms of cleanliness, well located and fairly priced. The single room I was provided was quite large, but provided a view only of the courtyard instead of the street (not my preference, but certainly more quiet.) The reception staff were very helpful in assisting with some questions that I had regarding Lisbon. Internet (WiFi and wired) were included in the price of my hotel room. A small sports and exercise facility is available in the basement, though with all the walking and hills in Lisbon, I didn’t feel too compelled to use this. A widescreen LCD TV is installed in the rooms with a selection of English and French international stations to complement the local Portuguese stations. The buffet style breakfast was surprisingly fresh and includes a variety of Nespresso coffees.

I would strongly recommend this hotel and would return in the future.

From start to finish our stay at Marques de Pombal was extremely friendly and efficient. We asked to be changed from twin to double bedroom and this was done within 5 minutes (with the poor porter lugging our suitcases from floor to floor!) Rooms were very clean, bed extremely comfortable, sheets glorious (I reckon 600 count egyptian cotton at least!) and we always got a table at the well-stocked breakfast buffet. Staff were attentive when required, and inconspicuous when not. Our room (and the twin room we were shown on first arrival) was spacious so not sure why some complain of lack of space. Air con was fab as it was very hot at night and you could not sleep with window open as the traffic in the Avenida da Liberdade was almost constant throughout the night. Triple glazing sorted that one though. Location excellent, far enough away from the hub bub of old Lisbon, but close enough to access everything. Beware the whole day trip to Pena Palace and Sintra, though, via the hotel (Dianatours). We got left for 3 hours in the village of Sintra so the guide could go back and pick up an afternoon tour to join us and there isn't enough to keep you interested for that long. Recommend the half day tour only as it's the same, only less the 3 hour wait and obviously cheaper!

Room Tip: Ask on arrival, very helpful reception staff
