The hotel is beautiful with fresh roses, beautiful paintings and books. Lovely dining area or outside dining on the deck. Breakfast was a banquet. The staff was very sensitive to my dietary needs.

Our room was comfortable and clean. I loved the charming outdoor eating area and the pool side surrounded with flowers.

Getting into town was one bus ride. The bus stop was right in front. Easy.

A wonderful, small hotel! Very charming. Highly recommendable! :-)
The staff was very friendly and always helpful. The courtyard is absolutely beautiful. Due to the warm and sunny weather we were able to take breakfast and dinner in the courtyard.

Room Tip: We stayed in room number 7 (the lucky room), beautiful room on the top floor. We think all rooms loo...

I booked a week's holiday in the Palacio Ramalhete based mainly on the Trip Advisor reviews which were so overwhelmingly positive. In spite of this, I still had a last minute panic that it would not live up to the hype.

It really did.

The hotel is a beautifully restored building that manages to feel both incredibly grand and cosily intimate at the same time. The staff were beyond helpful. Their friendly smiles and willingness to help with any query made everything very easy. The room was well air conditioned (which was great because it was over 30 degrees most days) and crisply decorated. It was a cool sanctuary after being outside all day. There was a stylishly designed pool terrace that overlooked two patios, all of which were charming areas to sit. It became our routine to have a drink from the bar every evening before heading out, and sitting on the terrace taking in the atmosphere. An atmosphere that was even more beautiful on the Friday evening, when we were joined by an acoustic guitarist. His talents, alongside the candlelit ambience of the outdoor area made for a wonderful start to our evening.

I have no need to search for Lisbon hotels again. I would always stay at Palacio Ramalhete in the future. It pulls of the challenge of being a relaxed space that feels like home, but provides the excellent service of a top class hotel. It was a perfect week.

Room Tip: We were in room 8 - the fireplace room. The advantage of this was that we could see the pool area a...

Dear Guest:

Thank you very much for your review about your stay with us. As you might see the other reviews that we have had in Trip Advisor have been true and according with a charming atmosphere that offer to our guests.

We are very happy that you have enjoyed the early evenings with your partner enjoying some of our drinks and cocktails that we offer in our bar, looking at the river. We know that sunset is a plus in that part of our hotel.

We hope to see you again in the future, and you can enjoy other rooms and feel even much better.

With our warmest regards

Palacio Ramalhete is a beautiful place full of character and very tastefully decorated. Its the opposite of a chain hotel and we loved it. The lounges and courtyard/pool areas are a lovely haven from the city. We were in a basic room but still found it lovely. Some of the bigger rooms we saw were very special! The service was second to none and all the staff were very friendly and full of useful recommendations. We can't wait to go back !

The Palacio Ramalhete was the perfect place for our four night holiday in Lisbon. The rooms, lounges and the courtyards were beautifully decorated as befitting a merchant's palace. A very tranquil setting. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good, including freshly squeezed orange juice. Food and beverages were available at all hours to enjoy in the lounges or courtyards. Recommendations for restaurants were excellent. Old Lisbon within walking distance or taxis or public transport at the doorstep.

We booked a room in Palacio Ramalhete as a treat for the end of our long trip in Portugal.
After paying an average of 60€ for a night along our trip in lovely hotels/Quintas/flats, we expected something tremendous paying almost 3 times more.

Don't get me wrong, the hotel in general is fantastic and beautiful. The service is good with all the right manners, the pool and public spaces are lovely, the breakfast was delicious and fresh (with little problems such as burnt Croissants and badly made cappuccinos).

The standard room was quite basic and therefore disappointing, and too noisy at night. Not being able to sleep properly at night ruins the overall experience...(There was a nice river view though.)
I complained and got an apology and a compensation (that I will not be able to use but still better than nothing).
I am sure that the more expensive rooms/suits make a wonderful stay. Be prepared for a lot of stairs...

Room Tip: Room in the front was too noisy, don't expect to sleep with your window open. Lisbon's roads...
