“Very nice hotel and services”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2010

Tiara Park Atlantic is a very nice and modern hotel located near the famous and beautiful Plaza del Marqués de Pombal in Lisbon. The people of the hotel are very efficient and simpathy. The only bad notes is that the hotel don't have WiFi Internet on their rooms or saloons.

It is always a pleasure to know our guests appreciate our efforts to provide a good - the best - service. As far as internet is concerned you are right about the guest rooms because it is HSIA at present.Public areas (bar, lobby restaurant, etc)and banquet rooms have wireless access. We look forward to welcoming back in Lisbon very soon.

I was looking for a good 5 star hotel and found this to be the cheapest. Rooms are not big but there is more than at many other 5 stars, like a CD player in the cupboard, next to the TV.
Great location, good restaurant but if you need better, go to the next door Four Seasons Ritz ( 2 courses for 60 Euro). There is internet in the lobby, 5 Euro per 15 minutes but I paid nothing. Very expensive minibar ( 6.50 Euro for a Coca Cola) but there is a bit of space for own things. Room was very comfortable and great bathroom too. At 80 Euro as I paid, it is excellent value.

Thank you for your comments that not only motivate the team but also help to improve - always.Although you mention other options for a very good meal - and I agree with you - let me add that our snack menu and business lunch package at the bar have a very good product/price relation and provice a superb option for a meal.>On your next visit, don't forget to try!

We spent the new year in Lisboa and stayed at the Tiara Park Atlantic. The hotel is fairly big and the rooms are comfortable. Our room on the 9th floor had also a nice view over the city. The staff at the hotel is very friendly and they are willing to help you with any possible questions that might pop into your mind. Metro station is approximately 200 meters away from the hotel, but the hotel is also on a walking distance from the other popular parts of the city (Bairro Alto, Chiado etc.).

Location

This hotel was in a great location, close to the Marques Pombal metro station. It is up a hill, but a manageable one.

The day we arrived, we took the bus from the airport and bought a day travelcard onboard. However, the price from the hotel to the airport was around the same price, so if you are not planning on travelling by public transport on the first day and get a metered taxi, it might be easier to jump in a taxi than wait for a bus.

Service

The concierge was very helpful when we asked for his advice on how to get to Sintra. The reception staff were also friendly at all times, and spoke English well.

We were running late on our way to the airport on the day we checked out and were anticipating a massive queue at reception, as would usually be the case at a hotel at that time in the morning. However, we did not have to wait at all, and checking out was fast and efficient.

Room

Our room had a sea view (just about), which was brilliant.

The beds were extremely comfortable, I think I've only just got over how soft the sheets were (even compared to other 5* hotels).

The room was spacious, with a desk and separate seating area. The bathroom was a comfortable size.

Overall

We enjoyed our stay at the Tiara Park and would definitely recommend to others.

A very nice comfortable hotel -- great beds, great bathrooms; nice tub and showers -- extras are insane; 60 euros for brunch!! per person!! 17 euros for internet, my husband had a double bombay gin for 25 euros -- a half bottle of wine at the restaurant 17 euros -- not too bad -- a light dinner of salad sandwiches and wine at at the restaurant for 4 of us including that gin was 150 euros -- as to wireless internet in the lobby - the staff will not give you a password -- i asked several times -- there's hardwired internet available if you can get access in the lobby -- we were here for a couple of days before heading north -- 110 euros for a 2 hour hired car tour although our guide Paolo was very pleasant and informative. Mostly the staff is courteous but you get the feeling as a non-local that you are getting "raked over the coals" a bit!

We booked this hotel after reading good reviews on Trip Advisor and also because of the good price (88 euros inclusive of tax, but no breakfast) for a 5 star. We only needed a room for 1 night..after a cruise. We booked directly with the hotel online and told them we'd arrive before checkin time but would leave luggage so we could make the most of our time in our 1 day stay in Lisbon. When we arrived at the hotel about 10:30am..we were greeted warmly, told they had the message we would arrive early and told our room was ready (a nice surprise). We freshened up and went down to the lobby to see about arranging a tour. Luckily we met 4 others from our cruise and the concierge arranged a tour for the 6 of us for that afternoon. He also arranged to split the bill in 3 and have it put on our tab. He was very helpful. Before the tour we had lunch in the bar (there are no other restaurants around this hotel except for the one next door at the Ritz!). They didn't start serving until noon...and we had their bar special for 11 euros..a cuttlefish dish which included dessert and a drink. We were offered wine which we understood was included (same price as a coke)...but found out we had to pay separately for the wine (worth it..it was good). We had a great tour of the city...the guide was fun...took about 3 hours. Our share was about 70 euro for 2 (a cab driver wanted 120 euro). That evening we had dinner in the bar since the weather was cold and windy and we were tired and didn't want to take a cab to some unknown restaurant. The prices in the restaurant were extremely high and we didn't want a huge meal anyway. In the bar we each had a simple sphagetti with bolognese sauce, bread and a glass of wine...and I think we paid at least 60 euro (paid cash) plus tip. Very overpriced, but food was good and we were captive. We ate fairly early, but were about the only ones in the bar. I think mostly business people use this hotel/bar. The next morning we left for airport about 5am...the doorman hailed the cab for us..no trouble getting one. That early it only took 15 min. to the airport at a cost of 10 euro on meter (I know my DH gave him a tip, but don't know if we paid extra for the 2 smaller bags we put in the trunk). We did not use the internet, nor the minibar when we were there....but given its a 5 star hotel can imagine the cost is high...especially when converting euros to dollars! Overall....very nice hotel and the staff were very nice and helpful. It is an expensive place...as are all 5 star hotels. Location is remote for sightseeing I think...for us since we were only there for 1 day it worked, but if we were going for a few days...would like something more central unless we had a car. Would be nice if they had a shuttle to the shopping center or downtown. Will try to post pictures. BTW, we did not have breakfast included in our room rate, but we were happy to find that in the lobby at 5am on the morning we left, there was coffee, juice and pastries ... which was great as it saved us time in the airport. A very nice touch by the hotel...and another plus in their favor.
