Met at the door, bags taken into reception, effortless check in, room lovely great view over the city. about 15 mins walk to the zoo and the tube station for direct access to the city center, One point that seems to be affecting all Marriots "the Executive Lounge" used to be there to do a bit of work with a complimentary drink for a certain level of loyal customer, you were allowed 1 guest. Whats happening now is Marriot are selling access to the lounge, this means you get mobs in there of parents and 4 kids who are running around and just basically being a pain whilst mum and dad drink as much as they can because its free, when the canapes, come out theres a feeding frenzy where they stuff as much on their plates as they can, it saves buying dinner and then putting free drinks into bags to take with them, this needs addressing by marriot, as I say this is NOT specific to this hotel

The hotel was nice overall i stayed there in july 2013 the room was clean, breakfast was good but average, the restaurant in the hotel could be alot better in their service. I had gone down 3 nights out of the seven I was staying and there was only 1 night that I didn't spend 2 hours between waiting on food or the bill. They just never had enough staff to cover all the tables. The reception desk and everyone else was very nice though. If the service in the restaurant was better I would probably have given it a 4

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your recent review.

We are really disappointed that you were dissatisfied with the service at our Restaurant. I have copied your review to our Restaurant Manager. Our restaurant was very busy by the time you stayed with us however It is absolutely unacceptable that you had to wait so much time for your food or the bill.

Your points will be noted and we hope you will see an improvement in our service at your next stay at the Lisbon Marriott Hotel.

Best regards,

The Management

The service is quite good and the food is excellent. It is close to the universities but not the city center. However, it is near the airport. Try the Portuguese seafood specials a la carte or the poolside buffet.

This hotel was a package for our tour ompany. We thought it was overall very good. I think it is mostly geared for the conference client but as a tourist hotel stop we were very happy. The beds are just wonderful. Free wifi in lobby with excellent signal.

The hotel is quite old and in need of refurbishment. The staffs seem to lack any training. Couple of drinks were missing in the mini bar which I spotted the minute i walked in the room. This I reported to the front desk to avoid any charges on my bill but not so fortunate is a bath robe that they never provided. I don't have a habit of wearing a robe so didn't notice it was missing until a charge of 50 euros was put on my credit card a week later. This hotel was only a stop over point before I went to the Marriott resort in Praia D'el Rey but when I asked for direction to this resort none of the staffs actually heard of it let alone giving me direction! I eventually recovered the 50 euro but had to escalate the case to Marriott HQ as the hotel didn't want to hear any of it.

Positive:
It is a big chain of quality hotels, so can´t get it all wrong.
Great breakfast.
OK swimming pool.
Great bed.
Negative: highways are nearby, so background noise even with doors closed.
Internet 19 euros/24 hours, unless you use it for free in the lobby, and sometimes not especially fast.
Restaurant with ridiculous prices for Lisbon.
Nothing in the vicinity, no shops, bars etc, you have to walk 15 min.

The property is an older Marriott that could use some renovations especially to the guest rooms.Hotel is not walkable to subway and must take taxi to most attractions.
As a GOLD member, I requested comp suite upgrade and was told there would extra charge for upgrade because hotel was near capacity. Why would suite be available for extra charge if hotel was near capacity? It seems that hotel just wanted extra US dollars and cared little about satisfying GOLD members!!!

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to provide a review regarding your stay at our hotel.

As a valued Marriott Rewards member we would like to thank you for your continued custom and loyalty to our hotels.

We would be pleased to upgrade your stay with us however due to a very high occupancy that was not possible (room upgrades at no additional charge at check-in are based on each hotel availability).

We also would like to inform you that very soon we will embark on an exciting refurbishment project of our rooms and Lobby area.

We sincerely hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again at our hotel .
