“Loud rooms”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2013

I have been here this year again (after my last year's more favourable review) an I have changed my mind about this hotel. The rroms and the service in general are alright, but the location and the noise around the hotel are a definite minus. If you have a room towards the road, it is noisy even with the windows closed, if you have one towards the garden, you here it only, wehn the window/balcon door is open. This hotel is only suitable for short-stay, business people.

Room Tip: rooms facing the garden tend to be more quiet

Average, comfotable accomodations. The staff was superb, like the nice gentleman who helped up take our bags to our room. Upon learning that it was our anniversary, he congratulated us. About 30 minutes later, room service came to our room with fresh egg custards and a bottle of ruby port - on the house - to congratulate us. One of the bellmen made sure to tell our cab driver exactly where to take us in downtown Lisbon so we could see the best of the city and shop. They helped us get a reservation at a great restaurant for our anniversary dinner. Would definitely stay here again because of the attentiveness of the staff. Thanks again for a great experience.

I was here three nights on a business trip.
The hotel is very nice, well furnished, clean. Is not far from Lisbon city center, however is far enough so you have to take a taxi every time you want to go out which is not a plus for sure.
The taxis, however, are not expensive, between 6 and 9 Euros.
The rooms are big and the bed is very comfortable. There is an iron in the room which is useful. I had a nice view of the pool from my room.
Breakfast was ok, average. The staff at the breakfast was lovely.
The staff is polite and very professional a part from one girl at the reception, a Russian girl, which is a real shame: I am not going into details but I can say that she made me feel very uncomfortable in front of other people, quite embarrassing I have to say. The kind of service you are expecting from a low profile hotel probably, not from a 4 stars hotel, certainly not from a Marriott.
My room wasn't done one of the nights.. There was a bit of confusion on my reservation, they thought I had to stay there only two nights, the problem was resolved from the company I work for, with a phone call, during the afternoon while I was away, however when I got back my room wasn't still cleaned. They had all afternoon and evening to do it once realizing that.
Also I wasn't impressed with the restaurant: not a lot to chose from, quite expensive comparing to other restaurants but understandable as an hotel. My choice went for a steak sandwich which was very well presented on the menu. I received a plate full of chips, two small pieces of bread with two small pieces of meat inside. Not even a full steak.. A part from not understanding why two small breads instead of a full steak sandwich.. Quite disappointing.
On overall, however, thanks to the nice room and grand part of the hotel staff, my stay wasn't brilliant, but ok.

Good: Nicely decorated, clean, large room.

Poor: Inconvenient location, Poor breakfast, Crowded lobby with numerous bus groups.

And something that I find really irritating for what is supposed to be an international standard hotel....NO free wi-fi in the rooms. If it is good enough for privately owned 2/3 star hotels and even McDonald's, what is the problem here??? When are major chain hotels going to wake up and stop trashing their reputations with this silly penny pinching???

We spent three lovely days the 1st week in May at this Hotel. I have no Nit Picks whatsoever. It is one of the Older Marriotts, but extremely well maintained. Service at the front desk at check in was exceptional. Fast and a most pleasant English speaking Young Women to assist us. Room was clean we were located on a High Floor and a had a nice view overlooking Lisbon. Used the Executive Lounge each evening, Very nice facility, with great Butler style Service. Breakfast was a buffet and was very good with lots of food options. Everything was just flawless, good location to the Metro shopping area of Lisbon a 7.00 Cab ride back and forth, only 10 minutes from the Airport. What more can I say, this is what keeps us coming back to the Marriott chain of Hotels

Room Tip: Ask for a High room and you can see much of Lisbon (floors 15 and above)

Check in was fast; the staff helpful & friendly - spoke good english. The rooms are very clean and the bedding is heavenly. There was a complimentary plate of fresh fruit & bottled water in our room. The view from our balcony was very nice. Great hot breakfast, yummy coffee and we really enjoyed the executive bar reception every night.

The location of the Hotel is not good for people who like walking. But taxi is so cheap. For 6-8 euro you can reach anywhere you want. Breakfast is average, nothing special, coffee is below average. Rooms are okey, tv is so poor but who cares?!? The only think that I cannot stand is no free wireless access in the rooms but only in the lobby. In which century are we living? Bit look from the bright side , because of this you have to spend more time in the lobby and there will be many people like you, a good chance to make new friends.
