“Best of Lisbon”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 18, 2013

Best hotel in Lisbon by a wide margin. Elegant hotel, impeccable service. Older property but has aged well. Front desk, bellmen, concierge all super helpful. Small items such as freshly brewed coffee in lobby with takeaway cups a nice touch. Gym on rooftop is very nice and indoor pool spa - very elegant.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the park are very nice

Everything was perfect, personnel very well trained, everybody kind in a sincere attitude towards guests. Great breakfast, first "aid" before beginning your day! Beautiful ambience, with many paintings and tapestries which enriches the hotel.

Room Tip: at the 10th floor you will have a wonderful view on Lisbon

Thank you for such a fantastic review. We're so pleased that "everything was perfect". We're also very happy to know you enjoyed our wonderful breakfast and that you found all personnel had a great attitude - that's what we're all about.
We're very proud of our art collection which includes dozens of works of art from some of Portugal’s most renowned artists such as Almada Negreiros, Pedro Leitão and Estrela Faria, among others. The Hotel’s 60-piece-collection represents one of the largest and most important private collections of contemporary art in Portugal. We have even developed an interactive, free ipad app which we invite you to download here: http://bit.ly/FSArtApp

We hope to see you again soon,

Obrigado!

The best hotel to stay in Lisbon in winter! fantastic service. I was just surprised not to be escorted to my room by one member of the reception staff. The building is rather plain and a bit far from the city center but the inside is opulent and very Ritzy. The spa is spectacular and the fitness center on the top floor is magnificent with an outdoor jogging track. I really enjoyed working out and running there with breathtaking views on the old city and the river (especially during sunset).

From the moment of checking in until checking out, the Ritz fulfilled all my hopes for a first stay in Lisbon. My luggage was whisked up to my room while the checking in process (5 minutes) was completed.
On reaching the room, I found a decent sized room, a wonderful view, an outstanding bathroom, and a nice large comfortable bed.
I had breakfasts and dinner in the hotel. The food quality and selection were wonderful. Every staff member at the hotel, especially the restaurant, seem to realise that economically Portugal is struggling and they all want to do their bit to help improve that situation. The service really was impeccable.
The gym, which was included, was the best hotel gym I have ever seen. A full range of equipment, great views (to take your mind off the labour at hand) and a very friendly and helpful staff member.

I will stay at the Ritz on my next visit to Lisbon and I strongly recommend it to you.

Room Tip: Try to get high up for the wonderful view

Four Season Lisbon was a great stay in a beautiful city. The service was, as usual for Four Seasons, fantastic, especially the staff serving breakfast. My wife is gluten intolerant and the staff cooked a new gluten free dish for her each morning. We were upgraded to a room with a fabulous view of the St. George castle. The highlight, though, was the Concierge. He set up an amazing daytrip tour of Sintra and Cascais and also a Fado restaurant. He also helped us buy train tickets to Porto. Room service was great. My only note would be to not charge for internet. I would definitely stay again. It is one of the better deals for a Four Seasons in Europe.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of St. George's Castle.

Thank you for your review. We're very glad that we could make your stay in the beautiful city of Lisbon a great one. The view of the St. George Castle is really terrific! In fact, we think it’s the very best in the city!
We will share your feedback with our staff in the team at breakfast, and are happy to hear that your wife enjoyed the gluten free dishes prepared.
Service is, as you say, very important in Four Seasons and we're glad we delivered.
Our concierge knows all the best tips for what to do in Lisbon and we're very happy they got it right with you!

We hope to welcome you back soon,

Obrigado!

This hotel has a lot of class when it comes to ambience and service, as one would expect from a Four Seasons. However one can tell that perhaps the economy in Portugal has effected some of the outside upkeep, along with a lack of furniture update in the guest rooms. (We were told this hotel is vintage 1960's and it was formerly The Ritz -(not the Ritz Carlton), and the top hotel in Portugal in its time). The place is immaculate and read on for all the is right with this hotel. The lobby is quite an impressive space given its grandness, unique art and decor, and floor to ceiling windows. The formal dining area is very distinguished, and the service and food were exceptional. I would highly recommend the brunch.
The spa and indoor pool area are on the bottom floor, and this is absolutely lovely. It appears this was designed and remodeled within the last few years, and its decor theme is very Asian "zen-like" as opposed to the more traditional setting on the main floor, in the lobby and guest rooms. The fitness center is on the top floor, and it, like the spa, is very modern. The views of Lisbon are magnificent, and there is even an outdoor track on the terraced area that allows one to get with one lap about an 1/8 of a mile. The equipment is adequate, although what really surprised me is that there were a couple of bikes that were out of order, and there were no bacterial wipes or spray to clean off the equipment. There is also a pilates studio with reformers, although one needs to make an appointment with a trainer to use them. The rooms are very spacious, and the beds and linens are quite comforter. Our bathroom was also very large; it was included a tub, separate shower (both outfitted with handheld sprayers) and a private toilet and bidet. The area of the hotel is convenient to the city centre, although we found it to be a little removed from where all the "action" is (which is the main Boulevard or ocean avenue areas). Overall, if you want a full service, classy hotel that delivers some glamour, comfort, excellent service, and lovely spa/workout options, this is an excellent choice.

Room Tip: Make sure your room has an updated bathroom

Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed review. We're very happy that your overall experience with us was great.
The traditional decoration of the hotel is definitely something special and we're glad you appreciated it, Henri Samuel, the acclaimed French interior designer, who’s elegance was appreciated by the most demanding of clients throughout the world, was given the colossal task of conceiving the environment of the hotel’s greatest areas of prestige. The effect of the overall concept, associating an art deco tendency with a Louis XVI style, was magnified by the choice of materials used and the unrivalled quality and finishing of the traditional Portuguese craftsmen employed. We do offer a classical type of room, which we believe best represents our hotel and the vision of its founders, which was to create the best hotel in Lisbon!
We’re happy to hear that you had the time to enjoy our Spa & Fitness area with the magnificent views of Lisbon, and which both opened in the last few years.
Regarding the wet wipes, we do have them inside the gym, when you enter, on your left, but unfortunately our supplier had a break in stock, so we did not have them for a few days. As for the bikes, we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, we have already purchased new ones to substitute the broken ones, and are currently waiting for delivery.
We're also glad that our staff was always pleasing, it is our goal to do so every day, that the food was exceptional and that our service was up to par with what you, our guests have come to expect from a Four Seasons property.

We hope to have you stay with us again soon,

Obrigado!
