I stayed there for 2 nights in july.

I get a room at the first floor at the back of the hotel. The view was not great but I knew it because the staff told me about it but I wanted to check early. So I knew it.

The room was quite small but clean with a nice bed. Maybe some shelves in the dressing would have been helpful. There was a fridge to store some food and bottle which can be buy in a small shop nearby.
The bathroom was also clean but the shower is only a showerhead.

The breakfast was OK : sweet and salty foods . Juice and coffee were below average. The breakfast room is quite small compare to the number of room. I am wondering how they do at the rush time, specially if the ladies did not clean the table on a regular basis. The 2 days I spend there, I saw only 1 lady : she came to take water and tea, she saw 4 dirty tables and went back without cleaning them and never come back.

The location was great to reach the center by feet or by metro. I adviced to take the metro when coming back.

Another point to take care off is to ask for the free wifi access. It is just too bad that they did not give it right after the checkin.
Otherwise the staff was helpful : gave the location of the main attraction and where to begin the trip with the famous tram 28 and where to take the tram 15 to Belem.

Overall I have a great stay at this hotel. Will consider it if I come back and if I get the same price.

Wonderful hotel, excellent staff, most of them spoke fluently English, Spanish and French, very professional and helpful. The room was spacious and very clean. Reliable wifi, very good laundry service. Breakfast was ok, not great variety though . About 15 minutes walk from Baixa. Certainly worth it's money.

Stayed there for 4 nights in a prolonged week-end getaway in July and was satisfied with the hotel.

The hotel is located somewhat far from any tourist area. You can reach it after a 8-10 minute walk uphill (mild climb) from Marques de Pombal subway station (or about 12-15 minutes flat, then downhill walk from Picoas subway station). There are bus stations right next to the hotel, but we preferred walking. With the subway, you can get to Praça do Comércio in about 20 minutes from exiting the hotel. So it's a good enough base for exploring Lisboa.
The staff were friendly and helpful - though the breakfast ladies were somewhat overcome with the amount of tourists in the week-end, so were not that helpful. Then again, they had a lot of work to do, so some prioritising was necessary.
The room was clean (and kept clean), large enough, the bathroom was ok, the towels were changed when we requested. The shower had no tubing, just a shower head - which was not as efficient for washing up, imo. THERE IS A FRIDGE IN THE ROOM - contrary to what others said. Maybe we were lucky - or they were unlucky?
The breakfast was tasty enough IMO, though NOT varied. 4 mornings we had the same thing: omelette, fried bacon, cooked champignons, some yellow cheese, some sort of ham, some fresh fruits, danone yoghurt, single-serving butter, single-serving jams and some juices. Plus a few types of bread and croissants. The coffee was terrible, though.
The bed was very comfortable, making for a nice sleep - this coming from a person with a bad back. :)
The free wifi was good. :)

The only 2 problems were with the shower-without-a-shower-hose and the very small breakfast area. In the week-end it was hectic - there were too many people for too few tables, and the 2 ladies simply couldn't cope with cleaning the tables and putting up new dishes and cutlery for the next people.

We stayed here for 2 nights in June 2014, great hotel in a great location. We did not have breakfast but there are so many cheap and great standard Pasticceria around the hotel you don't need it. The hotel is clean and modern so not sure why it comes in for some criticism below. We found the walk into Lisbon fine although some people may want to make use of the metro which is very nearby. Overall a great hotel

we had a very nice surprise staying at this hotel for a week as the comments we read were not all good .We were influenced by a good comment that we also can now agree with it. The hotel is pleasant and very well situated - very good for transportation everywhere and also for walking to the central lisbon - about 20 to 30 mn .
The room and bathroom big and clean.
We got very good choices in the buffet for breakfast.
The service and help we got from the reception by all the personnal -Daniela and Rafael - was very useful and included a good taxi service to the airport for 15 euro. The metro station was very close and also many buses in all the directions if you care to read the information in the bus stops. We had a fridge and could do some shopping in a nice super M in the road of conde de lule very close to the turn to the hotel.
There are everywhere near all kind of restaurants and coffee shops

Room Tip: We had a very quite room in the last floor - the sixth floor and we did not hear any noice

If this had been listed as a 3-star hotel, I would have been better prepared for what our group ended up getting. We were a large group, so we saw quite a range in the quality of the rooms. Some were in good shape while others were in desperate need for repair. I was in a room for single-occupancy that was cramped. My mattress and pillow were hard and the sheets a bit threadbare. The worst part was that my room faced the street - the noise made it very difficult to sleep.

The wifi worked ok at best - when I could get on it was slow. Then what I assume was heavy usage all of a sudden I could not get on... got error message that too many users were on the system. The front desk gave me the password for a second wi-fi network in the hotel, but that one only worked in the lobby. So in the late afternoon/early evening you could see about 15 people in the lobby using that network as they could no longer access it in their rooms.

No iron or board, but that is fairly common from other hotels I've stayed in Europe. The AC was not very strong, but it was working. I do wonder how it will fare in the strong summer months as temperatures were actually pretty mild while we were there. Water pressure was ok compared to other hotels in Europe.

Breakfast was basic but ok - while it got repetitive after 3 days, it was not bad. There is no "restaurant" in the hotel, so all your other meals have to be at other locations.

The location was the biggest issue... as others have mentioned, the hotel is very close to strip bars. We also ran into a prostitute right in front of the hotel at about 9pm...

If the hotel were rated 3-stars, I would have given it a rating of 3(Average). For a hotel with a 4-star rating it definitely fell below expectations and so is rated 2(Poor).
