“BEST hostel of my 6 month trip- solo Australian girl”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 31, 2013

Best hostel I've ever stayed at. The people and staff are sophisticated, friendly young things and it's so easy to meet people and go out at night or during the day with them. There is a massive mix of people from all over the world. Clean, modern and new hostel. I couldn't leave! There is a beautiful terrace where they play some music at night and a gorgeous courtyard where you can have breakfast if you like. Staff are always helpful and speak many languages. It has a very relaxed atmosphere but people still go out at night and party.

This is the best hostel that I've ever been to. The location is just great and the staff are amazing. They are very polite and they always do their best to make your stay as pleasant as possible.
Most of the travelers that I met during the week that I spent at the hostel had already or were going to extended their stay. I presume that it is the staff and the overall atmosphere that made them decide to stay longer. It just feels like you're part of a big happy family.

I sincerely recommend it.

I travelled to Lisbon with my college group in May 2013 on our final course residential. This hostel is ideal for groups, friends, solo travellers and students. It is an approximate 20 minute transfer from Lisbon International Airport and is located in an immediate, central location in the city. There is a steep hill that runs alongside a tramline that takes you towards the hostel. When you have gotten half way up, there is a short ally way that takes you direct to the front of the accommodation. The hostel is painted pink and is clearly visible and isn't too hard to find, however; there is a long flight of steps to climb to get to the main door. After you have entered the building, you can go on through to the lounge which is where the reception desk is and check in. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and can speak Portuguese and English so the checking in process is much simpler. The rooms are opened with key cards instead of keys which adds security to you and your belongings. The rooms feature bunk beds, a window, radiators, lighting and electric sockets. There rooms are very basic but are very clean and cosy, with some fantastic views of the city and Castel Sao Jorge. Along the corridors, there are toilet facilities for both male's and female's along with shower and washing facilities. Back downstairs, there is a lounge when you can talk to the staff, ask questions, find information and relax. There is a computer, space to play music and plenty of places to sit and socialise with the other guests. The lounge is spacious and very homely. You can also purchase drinks in the lounge from reception. Leading out from the lounge, there is a sun terrace which has loungers and seats on. This is perfect for the summer. Back inside there is also a kitchen where many people cook their own food. This is when guests can enjoy breakfast too. In the centre of the building, there is a holding room where all guests can leave their luggage after vacating their rooms on the date of their departure. I would recommend this hostel to anyone as it is very comfortable and has a lot to offer. It caters well for many types of travellers and is in the perfect location- just a few minutes walk from the city centre.

Nice clean hostel in a good location. The rooms were clean and spacious but extremely hot, making it hard to get any sleep. Just be prepared to walk up a nasty hill each time you need to get back to the hostel.

After reading some "good" review on this hostel, we decided to book it....what a mistake. 1st breakfast...only bread ( not fresh at all ) cereals, hot milk and some hot juices. The kitchen is always a mess, no one cleans after it self, flies are everywhere! Dishes were dirty. 2nd the rooms... Humid and impossible to sleep in the bed was so humid that we were waking up all sweating! We booked a room with 10-12 ppl and they gave us a 15 persons room ( can you imagine this with only 1 bathrom and 1 shower. One other thing, in all the hostel bathrooms there is no lock for the toilet doors ( privacy please!! ). I really dont reccomand this hostels , pay an extra 5-10 euro and you will be happier. Not going back for sure.

This hostel has a good location, in a charming area of Lisbon. There's a bar in the reception and a big lounge area outside with pillows to sit on, which is a nice touch. It's about a 10-15 minute walk from the Cais do Sodre trainstation, and there is a metro (and the bus to the airport) just a few minutes from the hostel. Be prepared for some uphill walking and a few stairs to get up to the hostel. If you have health problems that could make this difficult, you should consider getting a hotel on the ground level of town.

The rooms were clean and the bed was super comfortable. The showers were quite big and spacious. However, prepare to be eaten by mosquitos at night: our room had no AC so it got really hot at night and we had to open the window, which resulted in a looot of bugs. We also only got one ladder for the three bunk beds, and the beds are pretty elevated, making it difficult to get into bed for the people staying in the top bed. The toilets seemed to always be out of soap and toilet paper. I'm quite sure if you went and told the staff about these things they would sort it out for you though.

Room Tip: Ask if the bed has its own ladder, and if there's any rooms with A/C.
