“Fantastic hotel for family city break”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. We had a family room - two adjoining rooms for two adults, 5yr old and a 2 yr old. Rooms were spotless and spacious. We did not get breakfast with our booking but it is available, the hotel charged 17euros per adult - however, we wanted to sample portuguese breakfasts so opted for one of the numerous cafes scattered about for a great coffee and a wide selection of pastries. The hotel is in a great location, close to Avenida metro station so convenient for the zoo, oceanarium and the shops. Great restuarants a 10 min walk away. Would definitely stay again. There was an outdoor swimming pool but we did not try it.

This is our second night in Lisbon, having spent time in The Algarve. The Tivoli is a lovely hotel. The service is exceptional and the accommodations are great. The breakfast is delicious, especially the cheese, fruit and fresh orange juice. Shopping is amazing close by, but your visa limit better be high! Or, window shopping is fun too. Great area to walk around and it will remind you of the champs d'lysees in Paris. We will come back. Thank you Lisbon.

Room Tip: We asked for one with a balcony so you can see the Avenue.

I spent two nights at the Tivoli recently on business. The hotel is well located, with close proximity to shops and the metro, meaning getting around is not difficult. Once inside, staff were attentive and helpful. That also applied to room service and housekeeping staff when needed. My room was one of the higher floors, on the inside of the hotel, so was very quiet. The room itself was pleasantly furnished, clean, and had everything you could expect from a good quality hotel. The bathroom was reasonably large, and the rain shower head was a bonus. All in all, a very enjoyable place to stay and somewhere I will happily stay again when next in Lisbon.

We have been staying here for over 40 years and nearly always enjoy the visit. Its in a great location on the main Avenue through the City and within walking distance from all the central sites and old town. Two years ago our reservation was cancelled when we arrived due to flooding and they sent us to another much further out Hotel which was no comparison. They promised to comp a room next visit but that proved elusive and never happened. Apart from that misstep we continue to come back and enjoy the large rooms, excellent breakfast, outdoor pool and situation.Tthe price is also very reasonable.

Could I be dreaming? I booked a moderately priced hotel in Lisbon and ended up in a palace comparable to the Plaza or Savoy - okay maybe not that elegant but very luxurious. Great location in upscale area only a ten minute walk from Baixa (downtown). Breakfast and wifi are not included and you may feel underdressed walking through the lobby in shorts, but at the rate we paid, who cares. Room was large and comfortable. No view but I could live with that for the price. Incredibly comfortable bed and the bathroom had two - count 'em - two showers. I'd rebook in a heartbeat.

I stayed for six nights for a conference. I had booked a high floor room overlooking the avenue, but was upgraded to a junior suite with no view. Not sure what I would have preferred, as I was just by myself and didn't spend much time in the room itself. Anyway....

The room was tastefully decorated, but clearly in need of a bit of a spruce up. Fittings were luxurious once, but are now a bit worn and wearing out. The air conditioning didn't work, it was just a fan as far as I could tell (no noticeable difference between setting 18 or 30 degrees). The toilet ran continuously, despite me asking to have it fixed on day one (had to have the door shut at night to block the sound).

The hotel has all the usual features of a 5-star hotel, with an overpriced buffet breakfast and a rooftop bar with very impressive views. I'm not sure they had a concierge, there was a desk in the lobby seemingly devoted to booking 'experiences' with the hotel as part of their loyalty program. I asked reception to assist me with dinner reservations, and they did this without any problem.

The location of the hotel is excellent, being only a minute's walk from a metro station, and the metro being easy to figure out.

Fabulous hotel with wonderful, professional and friendly service. The concierge could not have been more helpful. He arranged splendid sightseeing trips and dinner arrangements.
A lovely visit.
