The Hotel Miraparque was a lovely surprise. It is almost like time stood still with an attentive, extremely polite staff (including a concierge and wait staff in the restaurant dressed in tuxedos). The hotel reminds me of the original Queen Mary cruise ship that is now docked in Long Beach, California. It still has the original decor (lots of dark wood, brass, exquisite appointments). The Miraparque must have been the grand hotel in the area in its day (besides the nearby Ritz).

I highly recommend dining in the hotel's dining room. The food and the service are exceptional and very reasonably priced (the best in the surrounding area, I think). The two waiters (I didn't get the elderly gentleman's name - and another waiter, Jose) were supremely attentive, polite, charming and professional. We couldn't wait to get back to the hotel for the dinner, alone! The included morning breakfast is superb as well - a buffet of many hot foods and great coffee.

Rooms were clean and had a good amount of towels and built-in soaps. Lovely.

Front desk was professional and helpful. When it was time to leave, the concierge personally called out for the taxi and put our luggage in the car. Very nice.

The Metro and buses are easily accessible via a short walk. Wear flat shoes though, as Lisbon's sidewalks are made from pieces of marble and can be slippery. The hotel itself sits at the top of a hill.

You will enjoy your stay at the Hotel Miraparque and will remember it for many years to come.

The area is really panoramic, having wonderful Eduardo VI park view same as Ritz Four Seasons and very close to Grand shopping center El Corte İngles. We have stayed in a triple room at the back for 3 nights paying about 72 euros/room per night inc. breakfast which is reasonable for a 3 star hotel. İt was an internet reservation. No problem only trembling sound when lift stops at the floor. Our room was on the fourth floor and of two connecting rooms.

I stayed at this hotel for 11 nights during the summer holidays with my son. The hotel is very close to the beautiful Parque Eduardo VII and close to two metros ( Marques de Pombal & Parque) with loads of buses are available in the area.

From the airport, take the 745 bus (1 Euro 75 cents) & get off at Marques de Pombal Square. As you alight from the bus, turn right & walk for a few yards, then take the 1st turning on the left . Cross over to the other side of the road and you will arrive at the hotel in 5 minutes.

When we arrived, I requested for a room facing the park & we were given a room on the 5th floor (506). The room was spacious and the bathroom was very clean. However the carpet was shabby and dirty which suprised me as everywhere else was clean. I decided not to
complain as the hotel was quite full & we would be out most of the time anyway! On the 4th evening, the Air Conditioning Unit started making loud noises & water was leaking from it on to the carpet!!. I informed reception & as it was very late, I was told that the AC would be fixed the next day. However, we were given a triple room & told that we would be moved back to the first room after the AC was fixed the next day. This second room was very spacious, with a cleaner carpet, large clean bathroom but you only had a view of a block of flats.

The next evening, we were told that the AC had been fixed and we would have to move back to the previous room. I asked whether the carpet was dry as did not wish to return to a damp room. We were give another room on the 4th floor (407) instead, facing the park & with a very clean carpet! This third (& last) room was much better than the initial one and we stayed here until we checked out.

The staff at this hotel were very polite, friendly, helpful and always welcomed guests with a smile. The breakfast was very good - different rolls of bread, tea, coffe, chocolate, orange juice, scrambled eggs, hotdog, fresh fruit, cereal, ham, cheese, pastry etc. Despite the initial room problems, I would stay here again should I return to Lisbon.

Lisbon itself is very beautiful, the Metro stations are very clean and interesting - some look like Art Galleries! There are a lot of things to do & if you love shopping, this is the place to go (Huge Shopping Malls, Designer shops etc). Make sure that you take a pair of Trainers/Sneakers/Comfortable shoes with you as you will come across some very steep roads but don't worry, there are plenty of benches around, should you need to sit down for a bit!

Metro tip: When you purchase a travel card, you are automatically charged 50 cents for the card in addition to the fare. Do not throw the card away after you have finished with it as you can top it up for your next use (Add money to it for your next journey - like the Oyster card in London). There are no signs in the metro stating this & the ticket staff will not tell you this. I found out about this by accident after 4 trips on the Metro. The one-day travel card is also valid for 24 hours so if you buy it at lunch time on a Monday, it is valid until lunch time on Tuesday.

Room Tip: Smile & ask for a room facing the Park! The higher the floor, the better the view!!

Pros:
Friendly and helpful English-speaking Reception staff (used them for info re Metro and train times).
Light, airy, spacious twin room with adequate storage, writing desk, multi-channel TV (incl English-language France24 and CNN), air-con and ensuite bath/shower with bidet, hairdryer, liquid soap and shower gel dispensers. My room (601) had views across road to Parque Eduardo VII (The Eduardo VII Park) and the estuary in the distance.
Good choice of cold and hot foods/drinks at breakfast with attentive staff.
Parque Eduardo VII good for views of river and for running. Turn right out of the hotel and walk 10 minutes up the hill, then left at the top (aim for the huge Portugal flag), for great views down the Parque Eduardo VII. Please note: Reception staff recommended not to enter Parque Eduardo VII after nightfall.
5 mins walk from the Parque tube station.

Cons:
WiFi expensive (there are very few free WiFi hotspots in the city; although there's a good free one at the small coffee shop next to Belem Tower). Tip: If you’re a BT Broadband customer download the BT Fon app from the iTunes App Store.
€1 per day for in room safe, plus €10 deposit.
Some breakfast tables close together.

Turn left out of the hotel and walk 10 minutes down the hill, then right at the bottom, for stop 1 of several city tour bus companies. I used Gray Line (48hr ticket) - http://www.grayline.com - who provided earphones for multi-language narration.

I stayed at this hotel with my parents and we really enjoyed it. The room wasn't the most charming of rooms, but it worked well for us. It was across the street from a beautiful park. We also walked to many places as it was centrally located. It is very close to the Parque metro stop. There is a great little cheap restaurant down the street that had salmon for 6 euros - try it! They charged for wifi and the safe so that was a bummer. Helpful staff and would recommend it!

well located next to the subway station - a decent walk to the main town centre but an agreeable declining road. Nice breakfast - but room was always full so plan for enough time. Pretty quiet area in the night. As we were a family of 3 we were pleased to get the additional space a extra small room with a bed gave us. Very pleasant touch!
