“Very bad experience overall”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 18, 2014 via mobile

Just came back from this place and thought to share it with tripadvisor. Only chose this restaurant as it was the only one open on Sunday evening and near our hotel. The experience was horrible, honestly. Would not have left any tips if it wasnt for one nice waiter (older guy). I understand that its a simple local place and surely didnt expect any luxury but there was not even a basic politeness from the staff! I love Portuguese food and Portuguese small local restaurants, the food there usually is simple but at the same time very tasty and made with love. Not in this place though! Everything was too salty, starting from the starter (mussels) and ending with the main course (very salty doradas). Poor variety of desserts and not home made ones, very artificial tastes of cheesecakes and creams. The attitude of almost all waiters is very very poor. We have not finished our beers (had literally half of the tall glass left!) when went to check the looks of desserts (literally one minute) and our glasses were both gone... Very rude. Would not advice it, there are many other local great places to go, the prices are ok but not appropriate for this kind of food/service. Its a NO!

“Good local restaurant / bar”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 9, 2014 via mobile

This was on the same road as the hotel i was staying at so i gave it a try looking for as authetic a local meal nearby. Menu was in English as well. The waiters looked busy snd a little stressed. Two of them even had a little argument about not attending to a customer - they then smiled at me apologetically, they were undestandably busy. This just made it a pleasant place to have a meal as the place had character. The food looked great wgen i looked at other tables, starters, mains and some wow desserts. My dish was exactly what i wanted, i asked to have fries instead of boiled potatoes which was different to the menu but they were happy to give me what i wanted, my fish was just spot on.

I like some of my food hot so i asked if they had anything lije a hot sauce as the dish didnt normally come with it - they got the kitchen to make a little sauce for me. Again adding to the charm of the place.

There is a bar as well and i had a late drink there as there was a great range of spirits as well as beer - plus it was a lot cheaper than the hotel. You can also watch the televisions which can show soccer or you can people watch or try to discuss soccer with the barman as you watch one if the waiters having a quick drink of a small beer during a very short break on again another busy night.

The only strange thing was that they didnt seem to want to give me the bill even though i'd asked for it a few times, i could have easily walked out and they wouldnt have noticed that i hadnt paid - the head waiter did laugh apologetically when i pointed out that i still hadnt received the bill. All good fun and a taste of local life.

“Reasonable”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2014 via mobile

Just around the corner from our Exe Lisboa Parque hotel, so decided to test it out. Interior is typical for Portugese cervejaria, nice and spacious. Service was rather 'pushy', seemed he was doing us a favor serving us. Food was good, but with a bit too much olive oil. Ok if you are in the neighborhood but not worth a big detour.

“Neighborhood”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2014

This is just the way You want a Portuguese cervejaria. Families and locals, servants swirling around like butterflies, a little bit noisy and good service.A menu in english was helpful as most servants does not speak english. I had a perfect sirloin steak and a good red wine recommended by the staff and still not very expensive.

“Good, cheap, typical portuguese food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2014

This is a very typical local portuguese restaurant - the decor, the food, the service, and the majority of the clientele are very portuguese (although given its location next to some big hotels, there were also quite a few tourists).

The food is simple portuguese fayre (my cod and potatoes came swimming in butter, as they should be!), so is authentic without being special. However it is also extremely cheap and very well located (especially if you are staying in the SANA hotel nearby).

Overall I would recommend this to anybody who wants a proper no-frills portuguese dinner, without paying silly tourist rates. I would definitely eat here again.
