“ruins”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

The church is in ruins since the big earthquake but it has a little museum, like a private one, with a rather creepy two infants skeletons!
If you have the time, visit, but if it`s a short visit don`t bother

“Very moving”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2013

To experience the church with an absence of roof-just skeletal arches reaching up to the sky is surprisingly moving. Moreover, there is a Hebrew inscribed grave that is 1500 years old. Wow

“You Could Almost Feel the Earthquake”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2013

We have been to remains of the Carmo many times and it still give us chills to think of the people who lost their lives in this place. Quirky, interesting museum is part of the admission price. You can take the Justa elevator down and avoid the line from the bottom in Baixa.

Very good, and emotionant place to visit and stay. The church without the roof is incredible, and now there are some renovation works around. Perfect after the elevator

“This was just okay...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013

We went here because it was right by our hotel. The entry was pretty cheap...around 3 euro I believe...but it wasn't really that great. Yes, you get a beautiful view of the arches from below, but really, that's about it...
