“great find for tasty local simple food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 26, 2013

After walking past many resteraunts vying for business, we spotted this small, what appeared to be a family run , busy casual bar/resteraunt filled with many locals. Warmly greated by the host with smiles from the lady in the kitchen and gentleman behind the bar. As we looked though the menu - in various languages, we were treated to a little plate of nibbles, and a drinks order taken swiflty. Sardines were excellent, local wine very pleasant. Not great choice for a vegetarian but home made tasty omelette sufficed and it was not really an issue as it was a pit stop before moving off to explore this fab city further. Located in an interesting litlte old street , with maybe 2 other resteraunts filled to the brim with locals. Really enjoyed , non touristy, simple tasty food with very freindly staff.

“Outstanding, inexpensive dining out in Lisbon”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2013

First, the proprietors Sonia and Zê are charming. Next, four of us visited this clean, unpretentious little family restaurant late September 2013 two nights running as the food was so delicious. Service is slow so allow plenty of time. Menu is limited so we chose cod (bacalhau), certainly one of the best cod dishes we've ever eaten, and garoupa grelhada long with "smashed potatoes". The total bill for four adults, including two bottles of Planalto white wine and beer each night, never exceeded €80 or about €20 per person for each meal. Extraordinary value even by Lisbon prices!

Our third visit now and just love it ...cheese ,jambon and bread always on the table before you order ..its a simple menu but everything cooked fresh either meat or fish would reccomend the home made chips ...always busy and popular with locals with people waiting for tables and rightly so as the prices are value for money ...the waiter we love...theres a few comments on here regarding service but all l can say is we always always have the very best nights here and he is part of the reason we return

“Wonderful Family Run Restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 10, 2013

We found Adega da Mo, completely by accident as we were walking about town, and so glad we did. It is a very small restaurant and is clearly very popular with the locals, we did not have to wait to long for a table, by the time we were seated a long queue for tables was evident, and they seemed more than happy to wait, a good sign. We both had fish dishes as the fish on display looked fresh and appetising. I had a Gilt-Head Bream and my partner had the Sea Bass, both were cooked to perfection and tasted delicious these were washed down with a very nice jug of the house wine, we tried a few of the House desserts which were fresh light and very enjoyable. There was a lovely welcoming atmosphere in the restaurant. and Very very reasonably priced.

“Good fish, great value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2012 via mobile

If I could tell you you can have starters, main course, a bottle of house wine, desert and a brandy for around 40 euros you would be suspicious I suspect. However that is what this place delivered and it was all good, local and authentic. We chose here as it we had arrived late on a friday night and did not want to venture to far from the hotel. We had a number of choices in this area but chose it based on the reviews from trip advisor. Although it is not in the top 100, we did visit a indian restaurant rated 76 later on this was much better. The food is simple, authentic fare. We ordered some cheese, ham and the local sausage. All very tasty and large portion. We ordered fish which was simply grilled with salad and boiled potatoes. There was some mix up with the fish and my friend did have to wait to receive her mains, but the place was charming and I forgave them their little error. They place was full of locals and we were really lucky to get a seat.

Portugese deserts are normally based on a egg custard tart. We each chose different variations on this theme. My partners one was better. Sorry cannot remember the name but it was the individual desert the metal dish if you go. The local firewater is a bit harsh but it was a good way to finish.

This place is not posh, but if you value flavour, authenticity, value for money and nice local atmosphere you will enjoy this place.
