Owner description: A trip to Lisbon is not complete without a visit to one of its famous open-air markets, including one of the most popular called Feira da Ladra or "Thieves Market," which offers a little bit of everything.

Easily accessible (metro Santa Apolonia), it does worth spending a Sunday walking the narrow streets in this open market dating back to the thirteenth century, devoting himself to the trade in antiquities and second hands objects. The best business is done early in the morning on Sundays and Tuesdays. Unmissable for fans of this kind of market. Do not worry with the name "Feira da Ladra". It is safe!

It's a terrible market. Most of the stuff is actually garbage: old computer parts, busted tools and ugly attempts at art.

Instead go to the waterfront, check out the arch and look at the stands there which contain handmade local crafts -- much nicer!

Lot of junk! But some good stuff if you look hard. I took a cab from city center it cost 6 euro one way.The real nice stuff were over-priced, Its a busy Saturday morning with lots of stuff and people. Get early to see it all, opens at 7 am (I think) Well worth the trip!

The Feira da Ladra or 'thieves market' is in the shadow of the impressive Santa Engracia Church.
It is an interesting flea market of bits and bobs ranging from the usual touristy stuff, to clothes, toys and antiques.
There are a couple of interesting stalls with prints of old maps, old postcards and photos. It’s worth having a rummage around...
It’s also worth haggling, I managed to get some things down a few Euros, I'm sure they saw me coming though!

Our travel plans (flight and hotel) were booked through you. All went perfectly, including the weather. The people, the sights, the food and the shopping in Portugal can not be matched. Take the time to know its people and to wonder a bit off the beaten path.

We can not wait to go back.
