“As bridges go, it´s very long!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

I love driving along this bridge. It takes ages to cross the river but it´s quicker than the swim! Not that I would recommend swimming across. The one thing to remember is that once you enter the bridge, you are commited. No U-turns, that would be very dangerous so don´t do it. It´s like when you miss your exit on the M1. You go to the next junction, you don´t try reversing back.

“What a view!”

Great drive over the bridge to view the river and look back at the city. Also beautiful at night with the lights shining on the water.

“Beautiful Views of Lisbon on the morning”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2012

It was a great experience to ride a motorcycle across the bridge. At 17km, this is the longest bridge in Europe. I rode on the Sunday morning of the Lisbon Marathon so they were dropping off buses full of runners. Traffic was light and I was able to pull over and take pictures. This is definitely worth the toll to cross in both directions. You only pay the toll westbound.

“Vasco da Gama crosses Tagus river”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2012

If you wish to go south, by car or bus , you have two bridges in Lisbon to get to the other side. Vasco da Gama Bridge is one of this, Located in the oriental side of Lisbon just near Parque das Nações and all is attractions. Enjoy the crossing, and maybe you see flamingos on the other side!
