A lovely place to relax from the hustle of Lisbon. A huge range of ports available for very reasonable prices.

If you are an amateur of port wine this place is a obviously a must, but also if you are just looking to relax in a nice atmosphere while sipping a good drink !

This place is perfect to spend an evening in Lisbon : you order port by the glass from an incredibly large selection and just enjoy the cosy atmosphere (wooden shelves, fire place, nice chairs, etc.).
Their selection is unbelievable (white ports, 10- 20- 30 and 40- years old tawnies, LBV, colheita, vintage ports,... from the most famous estates) and allows to taste some very rare / expensive ports without spending too much as most of them are very fairly priced. You can also have some plates of cheese / spanish cooked meats (iberico,...) to eat along.

The first time I went there with my colleagues we had planned to go there for a quick drink before dinner and ended up spending the whole evening there as we enjoyed it so much ! I went back several times afterwards.

This is a very very recommendable place.

Again, we had to stop by as we're arden Port fans & had to sample one or two of teh ones you can never get anywhere.
Don't they ever take any notice in there as to what is happening ?!! Where is Management if there's any ?
These people in there who are supposedly "serving" should all be dismissed on teh spot !
If anything, this place has become a lot worse. Reserved signs on tables which were never taken, tables full of glasses & bottles were never cleared and the place wasn't even half full ! Plenty of tables awaiting service which never happened. This is a totally non-Portuguese experience as I have not often seen that rude and uninterested service people anywhere and certainly nowher else in Portugal at any time.
Any language you address the staff in gets you nowhere at all.
Some people left with a harsh remark about the "service" or just gave up & walked out.
Is this how a so called Port-wine Institute should treat its customers (some were Portuguese)
despite the fact hat their drinks list is impressive ?

We will certainly complain to the tourist office & write to the Lisbon mayor about this as it is totally incomprehensible how a hugely popular place like this can still survive.
We won't be back & will tell EVERYBODy not to go.

Tried three excellent ports for a total of €7.40 plus a plate of very good chourico (spiced pork sausage) and fresh bread for another €7.0. Service was fine (I occasionally wonder what other universe other reviewers inhabit) and a very pleasant experience overall. Visit and enjoy.

So what if the service is inattentive and slow? Once they start bringing the samples of port you will not care how long you sit in the comfortable leather chairs in the air-conditioned room trying to get the waiter's attention. It's a great opportunity to taste a wide variety of ports side-by-side without mortgaging the house.

We enjoyed some bread and little snacks along with a few glasses of port and then bought a few bottles to take home to the states.
