This place is alive at night..lots of activity. Great little eateries and entertainment spots. Interesting in the daytime for clothing shops and small specialty stores. It seems to shine at night.

Very hip part of town. There was always lots going on - lots of people watching, and some great cafes. We always felt very safe there at night

Our apartment was in Chiado and we couldn't have picked a better neighborhood. There are tons of shopping and dining options in the area, including huge department stores, Brio organic supermarket on Rua Garret and the list goes on. Much quieter and less seedy than Barrio Alto. You are also more likely to find a local restaurant that isn't a totally overpriced tourist trap.
