My partner and I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights in late April. The hotel is only 10 mins walk down the Avenida da Liberdade to the centre of the city. The room was spacious and comfortable. The buffet breakfast is served until midday - I wish all hotels did this! The breakfast was fresh and continually replenished throughout the morning. There are lots of lovely restaurants nearby. The only niggle was that they asked to keep the key when you left for the day. I don't like doing this, but it's not a big deal.

While the street the hotel is on is a typical urban mix of low rise buildings and plenty of parked cars, I discovered around the block was a beautiful boulevard for strolling and people watching. And inside past a resplendent door marking the entry was a great hotel as well.

Hotel premises are immaculate and charming. We both enjoyed the work done to preserve the hotels character and highlights from prior generations of hoteling.

Hotel staff are top notch and we are hard graders as our son is in the hotel biz in the U.S. Our flight arrived in Lisbon very early in the morning. We ate a breakfast at the airport while the city woke up. By 11 am, we had killed all the time we could, so we got a cab to the hotel. Although we arrived very early for a check-in, we needed to stash our luggage and valuables so we could head out on a scheduled 1pm tour. The staff offered to let us place our passport and money, etc. in the safe even though we had not yet checked in. They also checked with housekeeping to see if anything could be done for us. Amazingly, a room was ready by 12:30 and they got everything up into the room before we left while we freshened up.

For us, the bed was somewhat hard so that is the only item I nicked in the ratings. Just don't want someone reading the review to not know this. Nonetheless, we both had an excellent night's sleep.

P.S. if you go out the door and turn left, at the end of the long block and across the street is a mini-grocery. I love to go into such shops to see what is offered different from the U.S. as well as for presentation and checkout operations. A great store with a great deal on bottled water which I brought back in copious amounts for spouse who loves Europe for its fizzy water everywhere.

My husband and I recently spent one night at this hotel. After reading many reviews and getting a great price (on their website) we decided to stay here. When we pulled up in the cab I thought I had made a big mistake. At first look, it is very nondescript. However, we were greeted and helped with our luggage by a very friendly employee.

Once we stepped through the beautiful doors (on second look) we knew we made the right choice. The lobby is not large but is restored to the original art deco period. The man at the reception for whatever reason upgraded us to one of the 6th floor suites.

The suite was spacious, nicely decorated with beautiful cork floors and a balcony as large as the sitting room in the suite.. The bedroom is quite ample in size, as is the bathroom, Although the balcony view is not great ( city buildings ) we could rather quietly enjoy some wine and olives in the afternoon sun in comfortable lounge chairs..

the hotel has a long history, told in a short brochure in the room, and has been restored to its original furnishings throughout most of the floors and reception/bar area. An additional feature is the location. There are a number of local restaurants within a couple of blocks, which offer a wide variety of food at reasonable prices. In addition, the popular areas of Lisbon are all within walking distance.i

To our regret we could only stay one night but this is certainly a place to stay for a longer visit to Lisbon.

We had a short stay, wished it was longer. Great location steps to everything or public transportation. The staff was incredible. I thought having tea and pastries was such a nice touch but coming home in the evening to a sip of port was even better. After 20 days travelling through Europe, the comfort of the bed and room was far beyond expectations,

This is an excellent, centrally located hotel with incredibly helpful staff and very spacious rooms. Breakfast was of really good quality and catered to all tastes. I would have no reservation in recommending this hotel.
