“Great hotel and the staff are wonderful”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

I stayed here for 5 nights early June. The hotel is not very obvious, with the entrance in a side street off the Avenida Liberarde and only a small wall plaque to identify it. So be careful you do not miss it. Inside it is a real gem, authentic art deco throughout. The staff are fantastic; reception staff speak many languages and really go out of their way to be friendly and helpful. The rooms are a good size and always clean, and the breakfast buffet is abundant and varied. The complimentary tea and pastries at 5pm is definitely something to return to the hotel to enjoy while relaxing with a book in the library. The buses all stop on the main road just near the hotel so it is easy to get about. I would certainly recommend staying here.

I have nothing but praise for this hotel, the rooms were large & fabulously decorated, the breakfast was ideal & there was a great selection of hot food, pastries, ham, cheese, fruit, cereal & bread. Even though the hotel was full, breakfast felt very relaxed and unbusy.

The knowledge of the staff & the helpfulness of recommending restaurants, things to do & places to go was great - they always made time for you & were all nice & friendly.

The afternoon tea on offer was a perfect way to end a full day of sightseeing, there was always a hot pot of tea, pastries, port & cherry liquor on offer.

The location was also ideal, just a short walk away from the main avenue & the many designer shops.

All in all a perfect hotel & one that I would recommend, I would definitely stay at this hotel again if returning to Lisbon.

The other reviews have said it all. I went by them and was not dissapointed. This is a fine hotel where the staff are its greatest assets. It is located centrally wil close access to Metro and Bus.

I will definately return here when I next visit Lisbon.

Tip: Take the inexpensive aerobus to be left about 100 meters from the hotel (Stop: Avienida)

The hotel is located centrally with all facilities you can wish for. The rooms are gigantic and tastefully decorated in authentic art deco furniture. Breakfast served in the old library was a quiet amd relaxed affair without the usual madness that one has come to associate with hotel breakfasts. The staff were friendly and service was excellent.

We spent 4 days at the Britania in early June. We thought the hotel was great. We had a comfortable and large room with all mod cons. The hotel gives guests afternoon tea (included in the B&B price) - delightful own blend "white tea" plus tasty fresh tarts, there's also a decanter of port for guests to help them selves to. The hotel is ideally located within easy walking distance of the centre, close to the metro, yet in a quiet side street. But what really made the hotel a great experience for use was the friendliness, helpfulness, and competence of the staff. It really is a little gem!

Almost everything about this place was delightful - most of all the service, but also the excellent breakfast, the beautiful interior, the room/bed, and the little touches like the free afternoon tea and evening port or cherry brandy. It has an interesting pedigree and although part of the Heritage chain, it didn't feel like it. Only downside is lack of a restaurant in the evening but restaurants in easy walking distance - and who wants to stay indoors on a warm Lisbon evening?

Firstly I would endorse all the favourable comments made by previous guests. The quality of all rooms, the civilised breakfast and afternoon tea experience and the superb service and friendliness of all staff made this one of the best city hotels we have ever used.
It is more likely to suit the over fifties, who want a comfortable base for a city stay. Don't worry that there is no restaurant there are plenty of good ones nearby to suit all tastes, and the staff on Reception will give you sound advice and book for you

Room Tip: All face the street and look out onto a carpark/flats. I understand that the top floor rooms have ba...
