This is the second time we have stayed here on our two week tour of Portugal, and after having stayed in about 6 other hotels, this is one of the best. First of all, the location is great... on a sidestreet, so it's quiet, but very convenient to transportation and the beautiful avenues. Upon arrival, the first thing one notices is the attractive but understated, elegant art nouveau decor. Then, from the doorman to the front desk personnel, everyone makes the guest feel not just welcome, but pampered. The amazingly multi-lingual front desk staff cheerfully provides concierge service, with no request seeming to be an inconvenience. The rooms are spacious, well-equipped, and lovely. They do an outstanding job on the breakfast, with offerings running the gamut from bacon and eggs, to the traditional pasteis de Belem. Unlike most of the other hotels where we stayed on this trip, Internet service in the rooms is excellent. There is absolutely nothing I would change about this hotel, except to desire its clone in any city we visit.

We stayed her for a long weekend, and I can only reinforce the comments made by other travellers. Our choice was influenced by the previous reviews and we was not disappointed. It is truly a fantastic hotel. Once you enter the lobby the Art Deco surroundings engulf you. It is a small but intimate hotel. Nothing is to much trouble. The staff welcome you with a warm smile which seems genuine. Any requests are received with a prompt response. Even the fact that it has no restaurant does not deter you as there are many excellent places within easy walking distance. If Lisbon is your next trip I urge you to give this a try.

This hotel deserves all its favorable reviews. Staff makes a property, and the Britania's is outstanding. Examples: I needed a bus reservation to Porto because trains were on strike, and I got invaluable help from the front desk; I asked for a good local restaurant, and the directions were complicated, and the front desk man walked us there.

I've had service this good elsewhere, but not better. The staff wanted to be sure you had a great stay -- we did.

This unassuming hotel, with an unremarkable lobby, lovely and unpretentious art deco, on a non-descript street one block back from one of Lisbon's major avenues is a real gem. The staff were terrific, the room much bigger than we expected, the bed, linen, furnishings were perfect. We loved the stay. This place had the feel of a family hotel. It will be the place we stay at when we come back to Lisbon.

Our hotel room was such a pleasant surprise! Beautifully furnished and loads of space. Location was central, and very close to an underground station. The hotel staff were also super helpful and friendly. Highly reccommended.
