“Traditional area”
Reviewed August 31, 2013

We walked down through the winding streets from the castle to the cathedral. It was very interesting.

“Real feel of Lisboa”
Reviewed August 28, 2013

The place to be for the tourist who travells for culture. You get a sense of how life goes for the ordinary Lisboa inhabitant. I fell in love with Alfama. I love the small houses, the closeness of everything, the narrow streets and "escadrinhas". I got the feeling that Alfama is a village inside a city, everybody knows their neighbours by name and they share a community heart that lapses in the big cities.

(Listen to Amalia Rodrigues song "Alfama" on youtube. It's a jewellery!)

“The heart of Lisbon”
Reviewed August 27, 2013

Alfama is the heart of Lisbon. We liked very much the ambience of this old part of the city (the oldest, with the castle), we spoted a few "fado" singers in the street.
