“Multinational neighborhood”
Reviewed February 7, 2013

Colorful narrow mourish style streets. Dark, narrow, fresh street with a past of nostalgic memories of FADO (portuguese national folk song/muisic). Nowadays is a popular destination for the young people searching for multicultural experiences. Expect diversity but beware of the environment. Search for advice regarding the places where not to go.

“only if you have a free mind”
Reviewed February 3, 2013 via mobile

a beautiful old neighbourhood, very small streets, steep stairs, beautiful views of the city and the river.
the place isn't the fenciest one or the cleanest, but it has a lot of harm if you can see beneath old wall paintings.

there are great retaurants around, having the feeling your are in someone's dining room, not in a restaurant.

people are friendly and helpful, but be aware of the pickpockets.

“charming old neighborhood”
Reviewed February 3, 2013

Bring sneakers because the neighborhood is nothing but hills. It's charming, though, and well worth a visit.

“Great Music”
Reviewed January 30, 2013

My wife and I were in Lisbon in June 2012. We had a tour that took us into the Alfama neighborhood during the day. We loved it so much that we came back at night and had dinner and enjoyed the great Fado music. Very relaxing night, nothing crazy. One reviewer was right, make sure you go to the top and enjoy the great scenery.

Reviewed January 29, 2013

Do not miss the view from one of the mirador before you start exploring this very picturesque barrio. So, go up as much as you can and then visit Alfama coming down
