“World class oceanarium”
Reviewed November 6, 2012

Impressive, large multilevel tank with fine collection of fish, corals, anemone, and many other types of sea life. Many viewing windows at different levels and small side aquariums with unique sea life. Well worth a two hour or more visit. Cost was 13 euro each. Located near Oriente metro stop next to Vasco De Gama Mall. A group of scientists maintain this Oceanarium and conduct research here.

“Fun afternoon”
Reviewed November 6, 2012

Turtles, sea otters, sharks and fish most people didn't know existed. Really fun (and cute!) way to spend an afternoon. or go in the morning to avoid the ticket lines. Once we got inside, the crowds were not bad at all though.

“Expensive but captivating”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

Given the number of detailed descriptions of this attraction here on TripAdvisor I won't repeat this information. There is a long queue to get in, we waited probably 40 minutes even in the off season, so I dread to think how long one has to wait in high season. It was also expensive. However, it was definitely one of the highlights for my nine year old and we were all captivated, especially by the otters - we were lucky enough to catch them being fed which is unforgettably cute. The penguin feeding is also a great spectacle, but we're lucky enough to have witnessed this before, so it didn't touch us quite so much.

There were loads of other fascinating creatures in the outlying tanks and it was very relaxing just sitting down in front of the main tank and watching the many species from different angles. A great way to spend an afternoon!

“Not the best aquarium and totally over crowded”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

We were there on a weekend, which we should have considered before going. We went because it was a dreary day and it was the end of our trip so we were exhausted. The hop off hop on bus dropped us off right out front. The lines to get tickets were very long and we were cut off several times by rude people. This continued the whole time in the Oceanarium.

There was a sea turtle exhibit when we went. The exhibit would have been great but people and kids just camped out on top of the glass viewing area or in front of it. Everytime a turtle came around, a mass of people would rush up. It was difficult to see the turtles.

The absolute highlight were the giant sea otters. They were exciting and the area to view them was large enough that a bunch of people could line around the fence and all see them.

All in all, it was a good time killer for two exhausted tourists. I would imagine this would be a must for people with children. I typically love Oceanariums, but this was a bit of a let down.
