“5 oceans together”
Reviewed October 26, 2012

inaugurated during Expo 98, this site brings together the 5 oceans and their biodiversity, in a unique way, with no apparent divisions, the species mix and the visitor makes contact with them ....

“Very nice aquarium, one of the best i have visited”
Reviewed October 24, 2012 via mobile

Surprisingly good attraction, with a lot of animals and information. I would certainly go back, despite it being a little expensive. Very nice to go at the feeding times.

“Great Variety”
Reviewed October 24, 2012

I have visited a few Oceanariums before but the variety found here is simply astounding. Care has been taken to exhibit species from specific regions and good explanations have also been given. We did without taking the audio guide. You could spend some time post this visit by doing the cable car in front of the expo and a visit to the Vasco Da Gama mall. Closest metro station is Oriente.

Great place for kids and adults alike! The main marine ecosystems are represented, in beautiful display. Just avoid peak visiting season.

“Fun aquarium with interesting fish... and penguins!”
Reviewed October 21, 2012

Aquariums abroad are always a good time, and this is no exception. The place resembles an oil rig from the outside, with a massive tank in the center that you revolve around as you explore. There's a couple of really interesting fish inside, with names I can't remember, so I'll call them "sideways flat fish" and "weird yellow fish with chunky teeth". If you go you'll know them when you see them.

They also have exhibits with penguins, otters and even a small tropical rainforest. There's a decent amount of variety, and enough to keep adults (as well as kids) occupied for an hour or two.

The best part isn't even in the aquarium - it's the open waterfall outside the main entrance where you buy tickets. Water cascades right over the sidewalk, so you can walk through a tunnel of rushing water before you head inside!
