Spent a great half hour walking up rather than taking the tram. The walk is half the fun and you can only ever get a little bit lost! The Castello was great but the killer views made it special. Couldn't believe how long we just sat and watched all of Lisbon beneath us.

Spent half a day up there. When you get to the entrance it is not very interesting looking so you may question whether its worth it or not, we decided to take a chance and were not disappointed. The views from inside the castle are amazing, you can see all around the city. It is bigger than it seems too and there are some interesting hand made crafts and art to buy inside the grounds.
Overall would recommend for a half day sight-seeing.

You can get here with one of the smaller buses from Praça da Figueira (and return with streetcar 28E). It has seen all of the cuty's history: Visigoths, Moors, Christians, royalty and convicts from over 15 centuries. Great looks over the city.

The site sits atop a big hill in the middle of the city. It's a bit of a climb and walk to get there, but the views are worth it. Be prepared for the loud peacocks!

You can catch a bus to the foot of the castle, otherwise it's a long walk uphill. The view is tremendous, so go on a clear day for amazing views of the city. The castle itself is interesting, but note that there are many steep walls in the castle with low, knee-high barriers that seem like they would be awfully dangerous for small children. You can also walk to a separate part of the castle that has remnants of the original Roman ruins and later Arab ruins that is very interesting.
