This museum carries a wide array of art from carpets to furniture and to master paintings. Although not immense some of the paintings in there are worth the detour. Some Monet, Manet, etc. Again not a large museum, but quality exhibits.

Amazing collection of art! Too bad I left it for the end of my trip, I would have enjoyed staying longer....

Even for people who get bored with ancient art, it is worth a visit - many pieces can tell something about the Portuguese art throughout the ages. The exhibitions are usually diverse in terms of subject and art forms.

The activities in the Gulbenkian agenda are at the highest standards and certainly have an international focus in each field, from music to science, from traditional to contemporary forms of fine art and performative arts. In my opinion, a must see (more than once!)

My advice for this museum is to read the biography of the man whose collection this is and how he came about it before wandering around the museum. was disappointed that Manets famous Boy blowing bubbles portrait wasnt hanging - and no reason why on the wall. that said - it was well worth the 4e entry fee. Easiest way to get to it is metro (parca di espania)
