Had the Sardines and the Salmon. Both fried with salt and oil and both delicious. Both came with fries and rice which were tasty. If you are after a cheap night out and some tasty Portugese food this is a great option. 2 mains and 2 large beers were 15 Euro all up.

I was introduced to El Rei D'Frango by a friend of mine 4 years ago and since then I have been in love with this gem. This restaurant is a family run. The mother is the one in charge of all the delicious dishes and they are served to the clients by her daughter. The food is incredibly cheap with great quality and quantity. Every time I go to the city center, this restaurant is always on top of my list. The only thing I expect more is the smile from the daughter cuz sometime she hardly smiles to us and it really does make her look mean. Well, do not mind it. Overall, I highly suggest this restaurant.

Especially the grilled salmon! The beer and the meals are extremely cheap but great in quality! The coffee ist delicious as well. Be there at about 7 pm because it easily gets crowded.

We went to this restaurant because the sign looked like my name and it was in the Lonely Planet. There are so many restaurants and people touting for them in Lisbon that it is difficult to choose (we never had a bad meal anywhere, whether touristy or not - only variation in value). This one is worth choosing. The first time we tried too late, about 10pm. The next day we went for lunch (served until about 3pm). The grilled sardines with tomato rice and chips was really good. Plus cheap Super Bock on tap. The house wine was incredibly cheap. Most other diners crammed in (tourists and locals) had plates of steak, chips and fried egg. Grilled sardines are offered nearly everywhere but we thought these (not served gutted) were just right.
