Description: Located in the heart of Lisbon, in a mandatory visit neighborhood as the Bairro Alto, just a few meters away from Chiado, you find in this Wine House a committed team in a relaxed, family atmosphere, accompanied by live music that animates every night. Between the passion for wines of Antonio Baeta and the passion for cuisine of Silvia Mendes, we get the alchemical mixture of two key ingredients that make the success of this house. On the one hand, more than 1000 national references between white, red, green, sparkling and fortified wine, where the vast majority can be tasted by glass, or even taken home bottled, on the other hand, a continuous search for the best Portuguese delicacies turned into simple dishes, but with great flavor, from cheese and sausages boards with homemade jams, to mussels or scallops gratinated, seared canned tuna, or even cod or octopus in the oven. Upstairs this XVIII century building, fully redone, you can find a room for the night in a cozy environment. Six bedrooms, some with private bathroom, a mixed dormitory, a common living room, a common kitchen where breakfasts are served or where you can cook your own food and an outdoor patio, make of this Hostel a selected place for those who like to enjoy the night of Bairro Alto, and want to stick around. Enjoy every moment of the two spaces in a relaxed way and with quality. Wine House Open every day from 12h00 to 24h00.

“Excellent spot in Bairro Alto”
Reviewed October 15, 2013

A must go in Bairro Alto.
Great wine decoration (bottles everywhere, wine boxes, tables made from barrels), live music (probably it was saturday night) and friendly staff.
We ate a table of many cheeses and chorizos (typically portuguese) with sweet jam and the Bacalhau a Brás. Everthing with a great presentation and tasteful. Also the wine is a speciality here.
It has fair prices for the quality of everything that's served.

“Great experience”
Reviewed October 10, 2013

I'll start off by saying this is not a restaurant, it is a wine bar with some appetizers which is exactly what I was looking for. We visited on a Wednesday evening and there were only a few people there but there was live music. The waiter (?) was very attentive and really knows wine, particularly Portuguese wine. I told him that we saw the reviews on Tripadvisor and just asked for him to bring us whatever is good along with some food. It took him a while to decide on the wine and we could tell that he was putting a lot of thought into it since he asked for our taste preferences.

The wines were phenomenal (we tried 5) and the food went perfectly with them all. For the dessert we tried a Port which I will say that I have tried them in the states and didn't like them, this one was amazing. I actually was thinking about taking a bottle back with me until I learned it was a 120euro bottle.

All in all I would highly recommend this place, it is a little hard to find so take a GPS or map. I hope to come back to Lisbon for vacation some day and will definitely come here again.

“Good food and fantastic live music”
Reviewed October 8, 2013

Good tapas dishes and great live music right in the heart of Barrio Alto. The waiter recommended a fantastic bottle of wine to go with our food. We ordered a second as soon as we'd seen off the first!

“Great music, great wine, great staff!”
Reviewed October 5, 2013

The evening started off in the doorway, with a complimentary glass of port chatting with the cute hostess. Smelled of tourist-trap, but the music drew us in together with the loud cheering and clapping from tables I couldn't see. Alex the proprietario asked us for our wine preferences. Together with good samples of Portuguese wine, fried sardines (my favourite!) and pata negra we were sucked into the energy of the place.
When the guy at the neighbouring table grabbed the mike and did his rendition of a Stones-hit, encouraged by the house singer-guitarist, we were all on our way to the sort of evening you dream about when you visit someplace new.
The evening came to an end with everyone singing their hearts out to the different tunes, people dancing in the corner and even the cook coming out to join the chorus.

“Great wine bar”
Reviewed October 4, 2013

I can't comment on the food, since I went there for the wine. I have been around many wine bars but this is indeed a great one. People working there know their wines and if you like to get to know various Portuguese wines, this is the place to go. It's almost like going to wine school. Atmosphere is friendly and they play some decent life music as well.
