Description: Located in the heart of Lisbon, in a mandatory visit neighborhood as the Bairro Alto, just a few meters away from Chiado, you find in this Wine House a committed team in a relaxed, family atmosphere, accompanied by live music that animates every night. Between the passion for wines of Antonio Baeta and the passion for cuisine of Silvia Mendes, we get the alchemical mixture of two key ingredients that make the success of this house. On the one hand, more than 1000 national references between white, red, green, sparkling and fortified wine, where the vast majority can be tasted by glass, or even taken home bottled, on the other hand, a continuous search for the best Portuguese delicacies turned into simple dishes, but with great flavor, from cheese and sausages boards with homemade jams, to mussels or scallops gratinated, seared canned tuna, or even cod or octopus in the oven. Upstairs this XVIII century building, fully redone, you can find a room for the night in a cozy environment. Six bedrooms, some with private bathroom, a mixed dormitory, a common living room, a common kitchen where breakfasts are served or where you can cook your own food and an outdoor patio, make of this Hostel a selected place for those who like to enjoy the night of Bairro Alto, and want to stick around. Enjoy every moment of the two spaces in a relaxed way and with quality. Wine House Open every day from 12h00 to 24h00.

We were shown this bar in Bairro Alto on a Gourmet walking tour and came back to find it on our final evening in Lisbon. The wine and port selections are amazing, so many options! its a great place to try all the local wines and the staff will happily give you a recommendation. They have live music most evenings and the guys who plays on Thursdays (Tuesdays also I think) is great! Its a small space, so it feels really intimate and has a great buzz. Highly recommend finding this place and getting acquainted with some quality vinho!

We were brought here on a private tour (Your Friend in Lisbon) and we loved it! Alex is so knowledgeable about wines and ports and we tasted wines we could NEVER have tasted in the states. We knew we liked port, but knew nothing else about it. I can't imagine a better person to teach us. I would also recommend the mixed tapas with meats and cheeses. We loved Grapes & Bites so much we came back the next day!

If you're interested in learning about wines and ports, I would suggest going in the late afternoon when it's nearly empty and you can have Alex to yourself. We tried to come back once at night and it was packed! One word of warning: we went in August and it was hot in there! Be prepared to sweat if you're used to well-air conditioned venues.

We were looking for dinner and we heard nice live music in the street. We followed the sound and found this cosy wine bar. It turned out a great night with some tapas and great wines, the somelier knew his wines. We also tasted port. Great spot for dinner and drinks!

Went for some late tapas here and really enjoyed this place. The wines, live music and people watching were all great. We tried a few of the tapas but weren't blown away (although the bread and butter were very tasty!), but it didn't matter because the atmosphere was perfect. We ended up staying longer than we expected so we could have another glass of delicious Portuguese wine and listen to the acoustic music.
