We were staying in the Alfama and visited this restaurant on the recommendation of our hotel (and Trip Advisor). Stefan and his wife are so warm and welcoming -- you really do feel as though you're a guest in their home. The food is fresh, as homemade as it gets, and absolutely delicious. Stefan hosts and waits on the six tiny tables while his wife prepares everything in the kitchen. Not only was this the best meal I had in Lisbon, but it was one of the very best experiences I had in Portugal. It is so obvious in the service and in the food that this restaurant is operated with love and passion for serving the best quality meals. Not only did we love every bite (even the desserts are homemade and amazing), but we enjoyed conversing with our hosts and laughing at their antics along the way. In fact, we had dinner there twice during our short stay in Lisbon -- once just wasn't enough. It's a very small place so go early or make a reservation!
