We stopped in for dinner here after a long day of sight seeing. The traditional decor and friendly staff drew us in along with the reasonable prices. While our server didn't speak English, we had English menus and got along quite well. We ordered the cured ham and pineapple to start. We suspected they knew what they were doing with the numerous hanging ham hocks...it was delicious. I ordered the grilled squid and my husband had the grilled pork steak - both were excellent. Both meals came with salad and potatoes at 9.5€ each. We also ordered a Vino Verde at 9€ and was very happy with the bottle. I ordered a rice pudding (1.9€) which was a nice size and delicious. My husband had wanted the chocolate mousse but they were out. When we asked what the Pudding Solar was we didn't get an answer due to the language barrier, but ordered it anyway. It ended up being a flann with a maple syrup type sauce. If you like flann you'll love this, if you don't, you won't. Our bill came to 41€.
We would highly recommend going to Solar dos Bicos for a meal or drink.
