This was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had.

The food was worse than mediocre and very expensive; €15 for a meagre plate of defrosted prawns being one of the worst examples. The wine, which could not be bought by the glass, was similarly overpriced and very acidic. The seating was extremely cramped, most of the tables offered a poor view of the music.

Whilst the fado was admittedly good, it finished 10 minutes after we arrived. This was made even worse when we saw that €3 per person had been added to the bill as a "fado supplement". When we complained about this we were told we could buy another bottle of acid wine and wait at the bar for the next performance to start in an hour and a half.

This restaurant has terrible food, prices, and service. Avoid.

It was a really great suprize when we enter the old rusty door from street. The stuff was great and the old lady and one old gentlemen who sing fado was really great. They are all look like they running family bussines in that restaurant, which is great. Food is also realy great and cheap. About 20 € per person. You dont need to pay extra for fado singer. I really recomend this. Fado is starting at 20h.

having done our walking tour of Alfama we settled on this place because of the setting (outside in a little square) and the promise of authentic Fado. We were not disappointed; we got three singers, two male and one female and two guitarists. They were all, clearly, experienced Fado performers and one of the men was exceptional. Not only did we get great entertainment but the food was fantastic too - my grilled octopus melted in my mouth and our only slight niggle was the size of the portions - too big! to eat outside on a late October evening, enjoy a lovely meal, wine and good music for only €52 - what more could you want. If you want the real Lisbon, go here!!

Our first night in Lisbon and wandered down to Alfama area for dinner/Fado with our 10 and 6 year old. Lots of small cosy establishments to choose from. Cosy, with comfortable chairs, three singers, captivating music, local wine, local port - excellent. Seafood rice was a soupy risotto packed full of seafood - excellent. Overall the friendliness made the difference. Fado singers saying hello, hugs for the kids. Warm and welcoming with great music and good food.

After doing some extensive research online before travelling, I booked a meal here for our final night in Lisbon to experience authentic fado - we were not disappointed.

Whilst located down a quiet side street, the restaurant was surprisingly easy to find. Intimate and cosy, it provided a wonderful ambience decorated in rich, deep colours. The fado was amazing.

It was clearly a family run establishment, and the service was very attentive - couldn't ask for more. Unlike some other places we saw, the food was very reasonably priced for what were large portions of traditional, homemade and tasty meals. It was approx 65E for starters, mains, desserts and a bottle of wine.

Would recommend - although on busy nights, booking is probably advisable.
