Owner description: Private Tours For the Culturally Curious! Perfect for travelers, foodies and art lovers who want more than a mass tourism experience • Lively and knowledgeable experts • We are local scholars with a passion for the food, wine, culture and history of Portugal • Excellent English-speaking • Easy walks downhill, or luxury vehicles with heat and A/C • Insider tips on restaurants and places locals visit • FREE rides on historic trolleys • Access car-free historic quarters and go inside sights • No megaphones, headsets • Affordable. ----- To really know Lisbon one must go into the small maze-like streets of the city's old quarters, where automobiles are limited and real life unfolds in pedestrian friendly streets and squares. The young and vibrant guides and scholars who lead our tours are not part-time students or actors who memorize scripts, or offer free tours to large groups without advance reservations. We carefully choose historians who are talented at speaking on Lisbon's treasures, and the amazing stories beneath them. After each tour our staff is available to assist with free city maps, additional sights to see, and restaurant or shopping suggestions. We look forward to bringing Lisbon alive for you in truly amazing, historic and relevant detail.

Paolo Scheffer is a FANTASTIC guide who made our trip to Lisbon memorable. He is a historian, an art historian, a foodie, and a delightful person all rolled into one. Don't consider visiting Lisbon without booking Paola for an individual or a group tour. His perfect English, his knowledge, and his enthusiasm for Lisbon are all wonderful parts of time with Paolo. He will help you make the most of your stay, and on both days we walked with him, he stayed later to show us special sights and even to give fantastic restaurant recommendations, not just in Lisbon but in Porto. I will recommend him to everyone I know who travels to Portugal.

Thank Shellita

We just returned from one week in Portugal and took a half-day Jewish Walking tour with Paolo from Lisbon Explorer. Paolo, an art history professor, took us on the most fascinating tour of Lisbon, making the history of the city as well as how the history of Portugal interfaced with the history of the Jews of Portugal throughout the ages. Paolo is engaging, warm and full of knowledge from everything from medieval times to which is the best and most trendy restaurant! He showed us places that without him, we never would have been able to discover on our own. He even gave us tips on what to see and do throughout Portugal!
I heartily recommend Paolo and Lisbon Explorer as the best way to see Lisbon!
