If you like to drink beer/wine on a terrace, eating the best tenderloin with garlic... don't miss this place. They also have very good clams, and the fish ranges from "good" to "excellent" (those made in the oven are the best).

“The best fish restaurant in Lisbon”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

In all of my trips to Portugal and the area around Lisbon, I have found several good restaurants but I don't think I have found any that have truly stood out when it comes to serving good fish dishes - until now.

From the outside, Pinoquio doesn't look like it will be providing you with a feast within, but I guess that's often the case with great restaurants - they can often surprise you. There is the usual selection of fresh fish on ice in the window and a large sack of clams (or other shellfish) but nothing that makes you want to dive in there any more than some other places. Don't be fooled!

The restaurant is situated opposite the Eden Theatre, so it is simple to get a taxi to take you there. Alternatively it is about a 15 minute walk from the main shopping area situated at Bairro Alto.

Inside is a large dining area that can be quite busy - a testament to the popularity of this place with locals.

I had a mixture of dishes - fresh prawns in their shell served with home made crab cocktail sauce with toasted bread which was delicious. For main course I had the mixed seafood with rice. To be honest, I expected a variation on Paella but was completely wrong. The dish was almost soup like in it's consistency and had pieces of lobster, large prawns, clams and a variety of other seafood mixed in with the rice and superb sauce. My words here don't do justice to how good this was.

Service was very friendly and the beer was very cold. An excellent experience!

“Really Good in a Family Friendly Place”
Reviewed December 31, 2012

We have gone here on recommendation of a local resident. Since we were such a large group, the only way the restaurant handle it was simply make a mix from their menu and serve you family style. It worked just fine.
(Although many items I saw I would have loved to try). They are known for the seafood, which is clearly what they do best, but there was most certainly nothing wrong with the meat dishes served.
It is a very busy, and a family atmosphere (so maybe not a great idea if you are looking for some romantic candle thingy).
It does have outdoor seating, but it is nothing more than being on the sidewalk. It is contained, has a kind of pavilion umbrella roof, but nothing to get excited about. Then again, I rate the place by quality and value of the food, and less about the decor..

“Um pouco caro e muito saboroso”
Reviewed December 31, 2012

Food quality was superb. The front window display was the most creative we've ever seen. Prices were a bit high, but consistent with the great location and constant demand.

Our initial waiter seemed not so happy and left the restaurant shortly after we ordered our meal. His replacement was much more welcoming, and he made the rest of our meal very enjoyable.

“Not to be missed”
Reviewed December 4, 2012

Wow what an experience, to watch waiters not having time to take a breadth as they continually rush round attending everyones needs.
Visited on a Thursday night and this highly professional organised team really know how to run a traditional portugese restaurant and serve high quality food presented very nicely.
Mainly fresh fish is served but they do a nice steak cooked to perfection. As the customer base is mainly locals english understanding is limited, but thats our fault not theres.
Would definitely reccommend, as its just round the corner from the main Rossio railway station
