“Excellent, Our Favorite meal in Lisbon”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 27, 2013

We spent a month in Lisbon earlier this year and LOVED our meal at 100 Manieras. The food was modern, innovative and exciting. This is fine dining without the old school European attitude. It's relaxed, informal service with high end food, just the way we like thinks. The staff were superb and we were very impressed with the sommelier's recommendations. We liked the restaurant so much we sent friends who came to visit and they had very much the same experience, highly recommended for foodies.

“Great food, great experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 24, 2013

As someone has already said earlier, superb restaurant (possibly the best in Lisbon) and moderately priced ( 50€ for food 35€ for wine) for a Michelin starred restaurant in Europe. Outstanding wine list and service.

“What a Spectacular Meal!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 20, 2013

I can't remember a time a chef shocked me with such innovative, tasty food. The quality, presentation, and service were certainly worthy of a great restaurant. Probably one of the best gourmet meals I've eaten in a very long time ... and that resume includes one of the local Michelin Stars.

“I highly recommend this excellent restaurant AND bar.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 18, 2013

The restaurant has fantastic food for good value in a cozy and stylish atmosphere.

The bar is absolutely the most amazing place to be. This is pure art, the best cocktails ever and made with such dedication that it almost takes your breath away. We went to the bar 3 times in a week and had one meal. So if you like artistic amazing tasting drinks and food this is the place to go.

“One of my worst foods experience in life”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 17, 2013

Me and a group of friends choose this restaurant for only night we would stay in Lisbon. We have been in the city many times before, and are used to the wonderful Portuguese cuisine. This would be the celebration for the end of a two- week trip to French countryside.

The restaurant ambiance is very simple, rustic in fact. White walls, homemade chairs and tables, ordinary lightning.

The menu is a 12 dish, with no possibility to eat anything different from that. There's no other option, but the 12 dishes. You can have a wine pairing, one wine for a group of three dishes.

The first dish was a cod. Cod is my favourite food. In this case, the chef was able to transform the cod into a Cheetos. The second was something with oyster, I'm not sure what since there was no taste. I can remember the other dishes, thank God, but the last one was unforgettable. A bird in a splash of blood and a chicken heart over it. I can't remember anything so nasty in my life. Remembering that still make me want to vomit.

For the wine pare, I decided to ask for another wine since I didn't like any of them.

Really one of my worst foods experience in life. The cost of that thing - 57 Euro for the food, 35 for the wine pairing - 100 Euro per person.

I wouldn't eat there again, even if they pay me the 100 Euros to do that.

Gourmander, Gerente de relações públicas at 100 Maneiras, responded to this review, October 21, 2013
Dear sir/madam,

first of all, despite your comments, we'd like to thank you for choosing 100 Maneiras. We were sorry to read your review and we'd like to add some considerations.
Since its opening, in 2009, 100 Maneiras has always served a single tasting menu. It's an option we made and we make sure to make it very clear by publishing this information both on our website and facebook page, informing our clients on the phone when they make their reservations and even placing it at our door. Therefore, we don't think this should come as a surprise.
As a restaurant, we work with taste. And taste, as we all know, can be very subjective. However, we believe in what we're doing. We have studied and keep on studying and experimenting, everyday, to offer a great tasting menu every season. We travel, we taste, we create, we reinvent. That's who we are. And that's what we love to share with our clients: a mixture of tastes, scents, textures and colors that results in a pleasant and memorable experience.
The dish you mention at the beginning, the cod, has been our signature dish since it was created. Why? Because people love it, because it's a symbol of Lisbon (it has even been considered one of Lisbon's ten most famous dishes) and it represents 100 Maneiras essence. We can't understand how you can compare dehydrated cod with a cheese snack but we can assure you it's totally different.
We respect that you may have hated your experience . And we can even face it as a motivation to keep on improving our work. However, a fast search on Tripadvisor can prove that, fortunately, you are an exception. Tripadvisor, Facebook, the national and international press, food critics and, most of all, the clients that come, every night, to taste our menu and come back, every season, for a new surprise.
The recognition of 100 Maneiras as one of Lisbon's best restaurants is the best evidence that we're doing our job right. However, it doesn't mean that we don't feel sorry when someone leaves unhappy, like you did. It is our goal to make sure it doesn't happen – or, at least, that it happens as rarely as possible, since there are some cases when it seems impossible to please our clients, despite all our efforts.

Best regards,

100 Maneiras
