“Disappointment, there's much better restaurants in Alfama”
Reviewed March 28, 2013

This restaurant was recommended in our guide book so we decided to go there. The walk there through Alfama is nice and leads through numerous cute little streets. The restaurant is anything but what it says on the tin. The terrace is nice, ok-ish, but the ridiculous decoration makes it look stupid. Service was very bad, we had to wait for quite long to be attended to and then to order drinks and food. Food is worse then average, not just boring but not even delicious.
It is very easy to find much better restaurants in Alfama, don't go to this one.

“Overpriced, if typical, Portuguese food”
Reviewed February 13, 2013

Lautasco is situated somewhat charmingly in a pedestrian cul-de-sac in Alfama in Lisbon. For some reason, the walkway and the outside seating area are kitsch-ily decorated with strings of tinsel.

We sat inside on a cool evening. The room is heavily decorated, to say the least, and features a television—never a good sign. Seating is the typical rows of tables with no space between.

We shared some swordfish that was quite good. Then we had grilled lamb, which was seriously overcooked and largely bones. After that, a flan that would have broken toes if dropped. The service was acceptable, but then one of us speaks Portuguese. The bill, €50 with a half bottle of wine.

The result: NOT RECOMMENDED for the prices and the quality of the meat.

“Perfectly decent”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

I was rather shocked when I searched to the page for this restaurant. Sure, it is not the finest establishment in town, but I do not recognise the comments made by others. The service was rustic, but not rude. The food was equally more of the country than of a city slicker, but it was good for it. It was not not top notch, but then neither was the price, which fairly reflected the quality.

If you want the best Lisbon can offer, this is not it. But, certainly on the one meal I had, if you want a perfectly decent meal, with perfectly decent service, I was very happy with the meal I had which I have ranked as "very good" for what it aspires to achieve.

“Horrible service and the absolute worst value”
Reviewed September 28, 2012

This is the only negative comment I have about my entire stay in Lisbon. Incredibly disappointing restaurant. The outdoor patio looked quiet and decent, but that's about it. The young waiter couldn't have been more rude. As soon as you sit down, without even asking, they'll place on the table some olives, bread, butter, and a plate of cheese, but rest assured that will all be added to your bill at the end of the meal. Just for those, I was charged 12 euros. The fish (tasteless) served with one plain potato was 13 euros. This was the most expensive meal and the worst I had in Lisbon. Avoid Lautasco restaurant!

“Feeling ripped off”
Reviewed September 26, 2012

Cute courtyard and polite service but terrible value for money. This was the worst meal of our five night trip to Lisbon despite also being the most expensive. Don't be enticed by the romantic setting. There are far better options elsewhere.
