Description: Restaurant Forest of Escadinhas is located in a former church in the street of Santa Justa. Located in the downtown historic district, serves as a passage for those who rises and falls to the Castelo de São Jorge. This restaurant is since 1993 to serve its customers its specialties of fish and meat on coal. In a simple and familiar environment has the capacity to 40 seats and serves traditional Portuguese food. Genuine flavors, our dishes are mainly of fresh fish and very healthy. We recommend that you try our mixed fish and meat. After a nice meal is invited to experience some of our fantastic homemade desserts, made to surprise him. The restaurant offers a very characteristic terrace in stairways and is the perfect place for a romantic meal for two or for lunch with friends. Best sardines in Lisbon. We have meat and fresh fish grilled in charcoal (Steak, ribs, fresh sausages, sardines, cod fish, grilled squid...)

Homely atmosphere. This is the place for locals generally. A lot of customers, because everything is fresh (and testy). Doradas I ate there several times was tasty. Andtheire home wine (I tried only white) for just 6EUR regular bottle was good. And when we was there for third time we already was treated like regular customers (they remembered our choices!).

My wife and I decided to go to this place based on reading the reviews on T.A. and were not disappointed . This place is crowded at lunch with locals and tourists alike for what is grilled fish and meat at an excellent price. The place is about as basic as you can get, with small wooded benches and rustic tables - but the service is fast, efficient and friendly. We ordered the sardine and the grilled fish - both came with the potatoes and small salad on the side - the Portuguese staple. The food is cooked on a charcoal grill and gives it that lovely rustic taste. Price is as would expect for a small local grill - cheap but very good for a little mid-day meal.

Your opinion prefeitamente describes what we are, a simple, small, family run restaurant.

One of the nicest things about Lisbon is that there are very few tourist traps and this family restaurant is no exception. Although tucked away on the edge of the commercial district and the tourist old city it is very local and the family went out of their way to make us feel welcome. They even disturbed the 'son' from his homework to come and translate.
The food is standard Portuguese fare, but fresh with good portions. There was a plat du jour (pasta something) that the locals were eating, but we did not try.
Good value and pleasant experience.

If you want brilliant sardines (and other fish) in central Lisbon at amazing places go to Restaurante Floresta das Escadinhas in Rua de Santa Justa No.3[--]. It's in a tiny steep street as you walk down from th castle to the centre. Very small and very friendly - and great value - you'll get decent beer or a quarter pitcher of wine for next to nothing. Enjoy!
