The restaurant is just down from Rossio Station...after a long day running around Lisboa, arrived a little after 1900 (no reservations/maybe early), not busy at the time, however the place did fill...comfortable atmosphere, fantastic service, considering how busy they got...had an awesome meal...bottle of wine, fresh bread, a large roquefort salad which was enough for two, grilled sea bream w/roasted potatoes and spinach, and for dessert sweet rice pudding called arroz doce...to top off the meal, brandy and coffee...my buddy order fish as well and was very pleased with his meal...all said and done, a very happy camper at a reasonable price...would go back without hesitation, might consider a reservation if arriving after 2000 based on how full the restaurant got...

Opened in 1842, wonderful room with tiles. Had a light lunch of Iberico ham and vegetable soup. Mate had daurade special. Both good - not extraordinaire.

The waiters and helpers are busy performing tasks that do not include servicing the guests.
The owner just stands behind the Bar area taking the money in without consideration of being a leader.
The display buffet is attractive with fresh shellfish and crab tanks, the food is prepared to an ok standard but the crab and prawns are overcooked and a little on the dry side. We played an internal game as we could not get the waiters to look our way when we needed wine , mineral water or desserts, on a count of 3 we all put our hands up at the same time to distract the waiters attention from other matters than attending to the guests, this works but it is a shame we have to resort to such antics. There are a lot of waiters but they seem disinterested.

Oh my...I am a foodie and I have to say, that may have been in the top 10 of best meals in my life. My husband and I ordered the shrimp and fish platter which was big enough to feed four, and we devoured the entire thing. It was a huge platter with at least 4 entire fish grilled to perfection...from a sweet salmon to whatever the other fish were!..and buttery shrimp and prawns strewn about with broccoli and sweet small steamed potatoes and delicious sauteed spinach. Simple but so well executed and so fabulously fresh ...if you visit Lisbon and like seafood , it's a must do!! I believe it cost 51 euros for that platter for 2 and fortunately we didn't get an appetizer because it was more than enough...although i did consider the crepes suzette which was made tableside and looked pretty ridiculously good...I watched him put in at least 3 dollops of butter in that pan....

We like this so much the first time, we went back for a second meal. It is a bit pricey, but considering you are in the center of Lisbon in a nice restaurant with fresh fish and seafood, I consider the price fair.
Saturday's supper sitting was packed and the service was ok. The service was better the second meal as it was for lunch on a Monday. We ordered the pata negra Spanish ham, oysters (15€ for 7) and the Cataplana (fish and seafood stew) (36€ for two). Bread, olives, butter, beer, water and a café pingao. We will return here if we are fortunate to visit Lisbon again.
